An American Editor's Letter that Will Live on Forever
Click below for an interview about sectarian violence in the Middle East--the return of suicide bombings--which is decidedly doctrinaire but definitely worth watching (e.g. in spite of the implicit defense of Iran). Reason: the analysis is basically correct. Iraq is a nightmare (though the interview subject conveniently ignores Iran's role in the violence). The NATO intervention in Libya was entirely unnecessary; protecting Libyan civilians, mere cover for installing an Al Qaeda-connected, Islamist regime. Syria is the next NATO target, with Libya as the model. Cataclysmic conflicts loom. "Permanent war" is an apt term.
All of which doesn't mean the Assad regime isn't capable of slaughtering its own citizens in a false flag operation. The regime is one of the world's worst despotisms. But there is no doubt that the foreign policy of the United States is now overtly pro-Islamist (in contrast with the covert pro-Islamist policy of the Cold War era), that with regard to Sunni Islamists, only Al Qaeda itself and "irreconcilable Taliban" elements are regarded as unacceptable for engagement (appeasement and collaboration), and that the Muslim Brotherhood and Islamist Turkey are being backed in order to counter Iran, Hezbollah and Syria (which the Obama administration attempted to engage).
In fact, in the wake of the U.S. departure from Iraq, many out-of-work, out-of-favor (with the Iraqi Shiite regime) U.S.-armed-and-trained, Sunni Islamist fighters and terrorists who fought against Al Qaeda in Iraq are now joining Al Qaeda in Iraq. Others are finding work with anti-Assad rebels in neighboring Syria. More than 10 years after the horrific blowback of 9/11, the beat goes on….
Permanent war, indeed.
RICH N. KOREANS ESCAPING, DIPLOMATS STATIONED
Next to its Islamist ally, Iran, Stalinist/Kimist/criminal North Korea is the most dangerous country on earth--a nuclear armed rogue that knows no boundaries. Foreign Confidential™ analysts believe a weakened and humiliated Kimist regime will provoke a new crisis with South Korea and the United States (and Japan, too, possibly) sooner rather than later. An attack of some sort on the South could occur at any time; nuclear and missile tests take more time to prepare, but are almost certainly in the works.
There is no diplomatic solution to the North Korea problem. Appeasement of North Korea by the so-called international community has created a monstrous threat.
Nor is there a diplomatic solution to the Iran problem--appeasement of Iran has made war with Iran inevitable. But that's another story.
