By Ted Belman - Hezbollah, Hamas and Egypt can’t afford to fight us so they are reletively quiet. - Forget about democracy in the Arab world. - Israel isn’t interested in signed pieces of paper. Instead it is focussing on shared interests to forge alliances. He said that Israel has such relationships but wouldn’t mention with whom because he didn’t want to embarrass them. - The west is suffering from solutionism i.e., every problem has a solution and nowism i.e., Every solution must be now. - If the west... The president of the new country of South Sudan, Salva Ki’ir, landed late Monday night at Ben Gurion Airport for his first visit to Israel, which is proposing to help it absorb illegal infiltrators in Israel. He was welcomed by Knesset Member Danny Danon and Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon. He has suggested to Prime Minister Binyamin... Arabic news outlet Dar al-Hayyat on Sunday reported “conflicting information” coming out of Sudan regarding alleged Israeli air strikes. It said... By Steven Plaut Of all the Jewish holidays, the one that I think best captures the contemporary Jewish zeitgeist, the one that is the most relevant to the current (and, if certain trends are not reversed, the last?) chapter in Jewish history, is Hannuka. Hannuka is, of course, the story of Jewish national liberation. It is the story of the military victory of the few against the many, of the champions of Judaism against the pagan barbarians. By Ted Belman I grew up in the forties and fifties. My father’s family, like many other Polish Jewish families in Canada, were avowed Communists. They were dedicated to workers’ rights and marched in the streets. They even managed to get one of their own, J P Salsberg, elected to the Ontario legislature representing the Communist Party, then called the Labour-Progressive Party. I was old enough to remember the heated debates on the trial and execution of the Rosenbergs, the Doctor’s Plot as alleged by Stalin, and the McCarthy hearings. I even watched the hearings on that newfangled device called television. I read the Bintel Brief and The Rise of David Levinskyby the editor of the Forward, Abraham Cahan. I was an avid... Dear Sasha, I received your email requesting that Prime Minister Netanyahu submit an op-ed to the New York Times. Unfortunately, we must respectfully decline. On matters relating to Israel, the op-ed page of the “paper of record” has failed to heed the late Senator Moynihan’s admonition that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but that no one is entitled to their own facts. Abu Mazen’s December 20, 2011 public embrace of Amna Muna – a ruthless Palestinian terrorist –exposes Abu Mazen’s authentic ideology. Notwithstanding Abu Mazen’s moderate demeanor, the televised session with Amna Muna, and other Palestinian terrorists, was consistent with Abu Mazen’s own K-12 hate-education system, which heralds terrorism, in general, and suicide bombing, in particular. It is compatible with the monthly allowances paid by Abu Mazen’s administration to families of suicide bombers and imprisoned terrorists; with his naming of streets, squares and sport tournaments after terrorists; with his 50 years track record as Arafat’s top confidant and deputy; with his holocaust denial Ph.D. thesis at Moscow University; with his involvement in the 1972 Munich Massacre of eleven Israeli Olympians; with his active support of the... Elliot Abrams, Weekly Standard You would avoid the blood libel—too medieval to write of sacrificing Christian children to make Passover matzo. That kind of stuff circulates in Arab lands or Pakistan, but won’t sell in suburban America. And the “Christ-killer” material is also dated, what with Vatican II, Evangelical support for Israel, and the like.

- Time is on our side and we are using it wisely.
- While many countries in the region have F-16s, Israel has the F-16i. The i standing for added Israeli technology. As a result our planes are vastly superior. He also said so are our pilots. We are superior because we have the brains to invent and improve and the heart to believe in our cause.
The president of the new country of South Sudan is in Israel, which is proposing aid to help it absorb illegal infiltrators in Israel.
MK Danon was the first Israeli official to visit South Sudan after it seceded from Sudan this summer. He also is leading efforts to solve the problem of tens of thousands illegal immigrants who have infiltrated into Israel from Sudan and Ethiopia, most of them trying to find a higher standard of living in Israel. Few of the infiltrators have been identified as refugees from Darfur.
After MK Danon’s visit, he established the Israeli-South Sudan parliamentary committee.
Sudanese media: Israeli helicopters also involved in multiple attacks on targets.

Israeli fighter jets, helicopters and possibly a submarine were involved in multiple attacks on targets in Sudan last week, according to local news outlets.
The reports say that Israeli jets hit targets in the eastern part of the African country, near its border with Egypt, last Thursday. They allegedly hit six Land Cruiser jeeps and killed four people. An earlier strike took place last Sunday and reportedly involved Israeli helicopters. A truck was targeted. Some reports say an Israeli submarine was also spotted at the same time.
However, the Sudanese army spokesman, Col. Al-Sawarmi Haled Sa’ad, said that the military’s air defense array gave no indication that the country’s airspace had been breached.
But it is more than this. It is the saga of the heroic struggle of Jewish survivalists (those one would today label “Zionists”) against the assimilationists and self-hating Hellenists of the second century BCE.
Hannuka is less a story about the battle against the Greeks than it is about the battle against the predominant assimilationist paradigm at the time among the Jews. It is about the battle against the anti-survivalists, those who hated themselves for being Jews, those who seek to be “progressive”,...
A case in point was your decision last May to publish the following bit of historical revision by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas:
It is important to note that the last time the question of Palestinian statehood took center stage at the General Assembly, the question posed to the international community was whether our homeland should be partitioned into two states. In November 1947, the General Assembly made its recommendation and answered in the affirmative. Shortly thereafter, Zionist forces expelled Palestinian Arabs to ensure a decisive Jewish majority in the future state of Israel, and...
If you were an anti-Semite dedicated to spreading your hatred of Jews, what charges exactly would you make in 21st century America?
menorah
There are two charges you would make. First, the rich Jews control our government. Second, those Jews are trying to push America into war so your sons will have to fight for Israel.
In the last week that is exactly what we have seen. First came the Thomas Friedman column in the New York Times: “I sure hope that Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, understands that the standing ovation he got in Congress this year was not for his politics. That ovation was bought and paid...
