Rauf Denktash, the founder of the Turkish Cypriot republic in the north of the island, is very ill.

He is in an intensive care ward and his doctors keep him asleep most of the time. When he came to today, he muttered something in Greek. His relatives who don't understand Greek asked him to repeat his words in Turkish or English. He started shouting: "tell Christofias that this is an independent country!" He also sang a love song for his wife. The doctors are warning him that his heart might give up any moment. What a show!
