Awake Arise at Coventry Cathedral

Christians from across the Midlands descended on Coventry Cathedral last Saturday for a special event to alert Christians to the increasing secularisation of Britain and discrimination against those who stand up for orthodox beliefs in public life.

The ‘Awake Arise’ event on January 28 was the first to be held in an English Cathedral and was led by former Bishop of Rochester, the Rt Revd Michael Nazir-Ali, and Christian Concern founder and CEO, General Synod member Andrea Minichiello Williams.

Baby saved yet abortion protestors prosecuted

A woman changed her mind about aborting her baby on Monday after seeing Abort 67's pictures outside the clinic. Yet teammates Andy Stephenson and Kathryn Sloane were in Court that morning pleading not-guilty after being arrested for holding the same signs in June.

Lesley Pilkington backed by senior clerics in hearing

Senior churchmen have backed Lesley Pilkington, a Christian counsellor whose appeal against the decision of her professional body was heard this week. She is seeking to have her disciplinary case ‘struck out’ on the basis that the original hearing was unfair, lacked in due process and discriminated against her Christian faith.

Christians banned from sharing their beliefs by ASA

A group of Christians from different churches have been praying for the public outside Bath Abbey for three years, regularly offering to pray for people who are sick. Yet after a complaint by an athiest, the Advertising Standards Authority have ordered the group to stop telling people that God can heal.

Sexual promiscuity costing UK billions of pounds

A culture of sexual license and promiscuity in the UK is costing the taxpayer approximately £100 billion per year, according to findings by the Jubilee Centre, caused by rising trends of family breakdown, abortion, teenage pregnancies and STI rates, costing the taxpayer large sums of money.

UCL students vote against religious freedom

Students at University College London have officially declared their campus ‘pro-choice’ and have voted to restrict the Catholic Society from having their own debates and speakers, forcing them to invite pro-abortion speakers to pro-life discussions.

Nine year old British girls forced to marry under sharia

Girls as young as nine are being forced to marry in mosques in Islington, according to the findings of a leading women’s rights group, which has reported that at least 30 forced marriages took place in the borough in 2010, involving at least three 11-year old and two 9-year old girls.

Ruling in favour of religious freedom in parallel US case

In a case with a very similar UK parallel, the US Court of Appeals has ruled in favour of Julea Ward, an Eastern Michigan University student, who was expelled from its graduate counselling program because of her Christian beliefs.
