BEIRUT: The head of the Syrian National Council was quoted as saying Monday that Syria’s main opposition group would not have any problem dealing with Hezbollah if the party supported a democratic change in Syria. “There are no permanent enmities in politics as there are no permanent friendships. Alliances are built on goals. We want to achieve our goals. If Hezbollah decided to support the democratic process in Syria, there would not be any barrier ,” Burhan Ghalioun said in an interview with the Algerian newspaper Al-Shourouq. Hezbollah strongly supports Syrian President Bashar Assad who is facing the gravest challenge to his rule from an 11-month-old popular uprising demanding his ousting. “Hezbollah’s greatest popularity in the past in the Arab world was in Syria because it did a glorious job when it stood against... My sources inside Iran tell me that President Obama, seeking to protect the recovering U.S. economy and bolster his chances of being re-elected in November, apparently has entered into an informal agreement with Iran that he believes will defuse the nuclear weapons crisis and keep Israel from attacking the Islamic regime. The agreement calls for the United States to acknowledge that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons, and for Iran to hand over its highly enriched uranium, which is necessary for nuclear weaponization. Iran, for its part, though engaging Obama, has no intention of abiding by the agreement and is stepping up its nuclear enrichment program clandestinely, even as it prepares for a war it believes it can win. By Mudar Zahran, STONEGATE INSTITUTE Since the launch of Arab Spring, Obama’s administration has been supportive of the Arabs’ call for freedom and democracy. Such a graceful stance, nonetheless, has been hindered by the administration’s apparent tolerance of the succession of Islamists into power at the expense of emerging Arab democracies. Apparently President Obama sees a point in accepting, and even welcoming, the arrival of Muslim Brotherhood members into power. Such a position will possibly soon prove a fatal one — and an example of the Islamists outwitting the US through the ballot box after failing with bombs and explosives. Obama was not alone in his support; Senator John McCain shared the same view. In his speech before the World... The author thinks out of the box. While he says that Obama is pro-Iran which is shiite, he doesn’t explan why he is building up the MB and Turks who are Sunni. But then again the MB is the enemy of the Saudis. I just got started on an article to point out that Saudi and Israel interests are the same in Syria, Iran and in opposing the MB. I believe they are working together to oppose these common enemies, Ted Belman Obama’s Iranian Nuclear policy can be summed up as “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing” and Saudi Arabia is in even more danger than Israel. Remember, for one second, in January 2011, before even a dozen demonstrators were killed, a small herd of camel-riding Mubarakists rode into Tahrir Square trampling some protesters underfoot, and Obama immediately flew into an apoplectic rage, gliding close to personally claiming that Mubarak was a war criminal for attacking peaceful “democratic” demonstrators. But in... Much written and said about the Middle East has always been fantasy. But nowadays the proportion of fantasy to reality is higher than ever. And number one on that list is the war hysteria with Iran. Israel may have to attack Iran some day. But not this week, month, or even year. That’s true for very good reasons. More Recent Articles

Iran doesn’t have deliverable nuclear weapons. It is not about to have deliverable nuclear weapons. Israel is not about to attack Iran. The United States is certainly not about to attack Iran. The whole idea that the leaders of Iran are crazed suicide-oriented people who expect the twelfth imam to arrive next Thursday is simply not true.
Yes, the Iranian regime is radical and yes it throws threats in all directions and yes, too, it is the world’s biggest sponsor of terrorism. Yet after 32 years in power the Islamist regime in Tehran has yet to do something really adventurous abroad. This regime wants to stay in power and it has shown...
