SIR – Such is the state of the nation that there has been a surge of emergency food banks opening at a rate of one every four days. Some families are so poor that without this help they will simply starve. But where are we talking about? Not some Third World country but Britain 2012. With massive rises in living costs, fuel, heating, etc, families are struggleing to put food on the table for themselves, and with more Government rises to come in April it is simply going to get worse. People are now faced with the immpossible task of choosing to pay rent or feed their children. This is utterly disgraceful and yet the Government is still intent on giving vast sums in overseas aid. Also, by not pulling out of the EU, we hand over in the region of £45 million a day for the privilege. It’s time for a change, a change to the weak governments that don’t appear to look after their own, yet bend over backwards to people coming to these shores to accept our generous benefits and the such like.
