Council for the National Interest Foundation Bleats about “Islamophobia”

by Bill Levinson
Alison Weir of the Council for the 501(c)(3) tax exempt National Interest Foundation says the Israel lobby is “Islamophobic.” Let’s address some of her concerns in detail.
Dr. Giraldi, a former CIA station chief, writes:

“Depicting Islam as manifestly medievalbackward, and cruel is not new, as it has been going on in one form or another since the Israelis and Palestinians first locked horns. Recognizing that the propaganda that is being ground out in the mainstream media derives from that conflict, it is easy to understand why Muslims are persistently portrayed in negative terms. And it should be equally unsurprising to learn that those who are denigrating Muslims and Islam are almost invariably among the most uncritical supporters of Likudist Israel and all its works.”

Weir continues,
As Phil notes, the Israel lobby’s vicious Islamophobia “fuels other narratives that the neoconservatives and their friends...

U.S. Middle East Policy As It Should Be

Embrace your friends, stand up to your enemies and ignore the UN.
Since there is so much bad policy on the Middle East to critique and since there’s no hope of the Obama Administration listening to alternative strategies, I often focus on the former. There is no great mystery, however, to what a good Middle East policy would be for the United States. You can apply this to any article I write as my constructive answer to the messes, crises, and dangers being faced.
The United States should take leadership. This is what its allies and dependents want and its enemies fear. The UN at times can be a useful instrument but why depend on an organization often dominated by anti-American dictators and totally indifferent to U.S. interests?

Identify the greatest threat today as revolutionary Islamism. Build a broad alliance with all those opposed to revolutionary Islamism. This list includes:

Canada; European allies; Israel; and the remaining...

Class Warfare the Last Refuge of a Failed Presidency

Now that Mitt Romney will be Obama’s opponent in November, the Democrats are rolling out the false narrative they will use to demonize Romney and obscure four years of failed economic policies that have created the worst recovery from a recession since the Great Depression. In two recent speeches, Obama has begun heating up his class warfare rhetoric in an attempt to paint Republicans as the heartless minions of greedy capitalists who increase their wealth at the expense of everybody else.
On April 3, Obama went after Representative Paul Ryan and his budget, which Obama linked explicitly to Romney. Ryan’s budget actually addresses the key problems of out of control government spending and rapidly metastasizing entitlement costs, the looming fiscal train-wreck that Obama and the Democrats have avoided dealing with for over 3 years.

Masking this dereliction of duty, Obama in his speech instead piled up lie after lie about Ryan’s budget, spicing the...

MKs to launch raft of settlement construction bills

Right-wing MKs are expected to introduce a number of bills supporting construction in West Bank settlements and unauthorized outposts when the Knesset returns from its spring recess in about two weeks.
Among anticipated legislation is a bill that would legalize Jewish construction on privately-owned Palestinian land at Migron and other outposts. The Knesset will hold a special session on Wednesday, when MKs from the right will seek Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s support for the bill.
The special session was scheduled after MK Danny Danon (Likud ) collected the signatures of 25 MKs. The effort follows a decision by the High Court of Justice to void a compromise worked out between the government and Migron’s residents on their relocation, as well as a decision by Defense Minister Ehud Barak to order the evacuation of Jews from the so-called Machpela House in Hebron.

“The High Court is trying to prevent the government from carrying...
