The Somali Al-Qaeda branch Al-Shabab Al-Mujahideen released a statement criticizing the UK's decision to extradite the extremist cleric Abu Qatada, insinuating that the UK and its citizens would face revenge attacks should the extradition take place.
Following are excerpts from the statement, in the original English:
"The decision taken by the British government to extradite Sheikh Abu Qatada… to Jordan - a country notorious for its deplorable treatment of prisoners and use of torture chambers for interrogation - is a travesty of justice and epitomizes the iniquities of the Western justice system."

Administrators of the Shumoukh Al-Islam and Al-Fida' forums announced that two senior forum members had mobilized, joining the ranks of the mujahideen fighting on jihad fronts. Both new recruits are associated with Abu Qatada, with one of them explicitly stating that the Salafi-jihadi cleric inspired him to adhere to Salafi-jihadi ideology and eventually to set out to actively join the ranks of jihad fighters.
On April 14, 2012, Abu 'Aina Al-Khurasani, a Shumoukh administrator, announced that a member known by the handle Jundallah had mobilized to Afghanistan, joining the mujahideen there. Jundallah had been an active member of Shumoukh who diligently uploaded transcripts of jihadi videos and collections of media releases. Jundallah was the first to upload a new set of books by Abu Qatada, a fact that indicates ties to jihadi circles in Europe. Considering that these books were published by the Denmark-based "Al-Nur Islamic Information", it is possible that Jundallah was a resident of that country or had ties to jihad activists there.
On April 15, 2012, 'Atiq, an administrator of Al-Fida', published a letter from Abu Ruwaha Al-Khurasani (alternate spelling: Abu Rawaha), a senior member of that forum, in which he announces that he is joining the mujahideen on a jihad front. Though Abu Ruwaha does not specify where he has mobilized, his nickname Khurasani indicates a desire to wage jihad in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region.
His letter begins: "To those I love for the sake of Allah, if this letter reaches you, I have, praise to Allah, joined the knights of glory in the land of battles." The letter is directed to the members of Al-Fida' and especially to the administrator Shakardara.

On April 13, 2012, Kavkaz Center released a video featuring Caucasus Emirate (CE) emir Dokka Umarov responding to what was described as questions submitted by journalists from the Caucasus. In his responses, Umarov addressed the internal dispute that has plagued the CE, as well as the hardships it is facing in conducting its war. He also addressed the U.S. government's designation of the CE and of himself as terrorists, speculating that Russia was behind the move and had "paid" for this.
Following is a summary of the interview:
Regarding the recent internal dispute in the CE (which he refers to as "the fitna"), Umarov says that it was not on a "global scale," meaning that it did not reach the attention of Muslims worldwide, but concedes that it was "painful for the mujahideen." He lauds the fact that the CE came through the dispute without bloodshed or loss of life, saying that both sides had refrained from crossing a line from which there would have been no return.

In March 2011, Abu Al-Walid Al-Maqdisi, leader of the Gaza Salafi-jihadi group Jama'at Al-Tawhid Wal-Jihad, was arrested by Hamas authorities. Since then, there have been several communiqués from various Salafi groups and individuals denouncing his arrest and those behind it (i.e. Hamas).
On April 12, 2012, the Ibn Taymiyya Media Center, which covers jihadi news from Gaza, issued an "urgent" statement on Al-Maqdisi's deteriorating health and the lack of medical treatment for him. The statement also called for pressuring the Hamas government to release Al-Maqdisi from prison.

Iraqi forces recently arrested 11 Al-Qaeda members, including a man of Pakistani-origin, in connection with their role in attacks in the southern province of Basra, according to a Pakistani daily.

Afghan soldiers captured by the Taliban
A new Taliban video shows the militants triggering landmine blasts, attacking NATO oil tankers, and capturing Afghan soldiers in Afghanistan's Laghman province.
The 54:49-minute video, titled "Sabeelona Al-Jihad" (Our Path - Jihad), is produced by the Al-Emarah Jihadi Studio of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban's shadow government). It was released on a jihadist internet forum.
The exact timing of the surrender of the Afghan soldiers is not clear from the video. However, the captured soldiers urge all Muslims to join the fighting against the Crusaders, i.e. the U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan.

Hakimullah Mehsud, the Emir of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has criticized Qazi Hussain Ahmad, the former chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, for distorting the concept of jihad, according to a Pakistani daily.
Mehsud also accused Qazi Hussain Ahmad of defending Pakistan instead of Islam, according to a report in The News daily. "I know about the existence of this videotape, but I have no comment to make," Qazi Hussain Ahmad said when asked if he wanted to say something on the subject.
