HP Cuts Feared to Hit UK Hard

'The American technology giant Hewlett Packard is replace the director of its British division, Autonomy, due to poor performance raising fears that Britain would be a focus of HP’s planned 27,000 staff cuts.

HP, which is the world’s leading PC manufacturer, said its chief strategy officer Bill Veghte will replace Autonomy’s current chief executive Mike Lynch “to improve Autonomy’s performance.” The company has announced it is shedding eight percent of its global personnel of almost 350,000 people with a spokesman confirming "we do expect the workforce reduction to impact just about every business and region."'
