That Hunt Email in Full
From: Fred Michel
To: Rebekah Brooks
27 June 2011 16:29Hunt will be making references to phone hacking in his statement on Rubicon this week.
He will be repeating the same narrative as the one he gave in Parliament few weeks ago.
This is based on his belief that the police is pursing things thoroughly and phone hacking has nothing to do with the media plurality issues.
It’s extremely helpful.
On the issue of the privacy committee he supports a widening of its remit to the future of the press and evidence from all newspaper groups on the regulatory regime.
He wants to prevent a public inquiry. For this the committee will need to come up a strong report in the autumn and put enough pressure on the PCC to strength itself and take recommendations forward.
JH is now starting to looking to phone hacking/practices more thoroughly and has asked me to advise him privately in the coming weeks and guide his and No 10′s positioning…
Fred
Very ouch…

Hunt Sought NI Advice on Phone Hacking
Though everyone is laughing at Dave and his LOLs this afternoon, it’s Osborne and Hunt that the most damage has been done to by Brooks. Osborne will be lucky to escape a turn on the stand now that increasingly feisty red-head has declared that she discussed the BSkyB with him, as Guido reported earlier. Things are getting really bad now for Jeremy Hunt. A new email has emerged from News Corp spinmeister Fred Michel claiming that “JH” sought guidance on the developing hacking scandal on June 27 2011 – just over a week before the Screws went under. Hunt’s defence will be that it was Adam Smith but that line was already looking weak. Crucially it says Hunt was seeking guidance for No. 10. Developing…
UPDATE: The wording is said to be that Hunt asked NI to “advise privately”to “guide his and No.10′s positioning”. A conspiracy theorist may wonder why this second round of trouble did not make it into the original cache of emails…

“Fair” Hunt Chat Details Emerge
The Guidoisation of the Leveson Inquiry is complete…
On a more serious note Brooks has spilled the beans that a discussion about the fairness of Jeremy Hunt took place on the infamous 23 December dinner. This is more than a passing chat now and links the Hunt mess directly to Dave. Brooks also revealed she saw Cameron again on the Boxing Day 2010. That’s new, is it not?
LOL DC
Brooks was pushed on Cameron’s texts:
“He would sign them off DC in the main.. occasionally he would sign of LOL – Lots Of Love – until I told him it meant Laugh Out Loud.”
It gives new meaning to “Ed Miliband had me on the run – LOL”
Via @QuigTheDude
UPDATE: The well known Total Politics Magazine shareholder tweets:
I can exclusively reveal that David Cameron has also' signed off a couple of texts to me "LOL, DC x". He does it to lots of people.
Another media proprietor in inappropriate relationship shocker…

Brooks Admits to Discussing BSkyB Bid With Osborne
She calls it “brief and inconsequential”, but admits to discussing the BskyB bid with the Chancellor, who was apparently baffled by the opposition:
She also stated that someone from No. 11 got in touch after she resigned…
UPDATE:
Para 92 and 93 of Brooks statement are interesting:levesoninquiry.org.uk/evidence/?witn…

‘There is an awful lot I would like to say, but I can’t at this time.’

Mr Bryant and Mr Watson managing to make the whole hacking affair look like a farce – the more they moan the less I care about the whole subject! So partisan it beggars belief at all costs. They cannot rise above it ! If I was to call the PM a ‘liar’ I would want to be VERY sure.
