Obama: Candidate of the 1 Percent

by Bill Levinson
Originally in the

American Thinker

General Carl von Clausewitz warned that artillery is the one weapon that an enterprising adversary could turn against its former owners. Barack Obama’s support for cap and trade allows us to similarly turn his class warfare rhetoric against him.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), a strong supporter of Obama’s cap-and-trade agenda, has provided us more than ample means to do so. Gillibrand argues in favor of the 21st-century counterpart of indulgence-peddling as follows:

According to financial experts, carbon permits could quickly become the world’s largest commodities market, growing to as much as $3 trillion by 2020 from just over $100 billion today. With thousands of firms and energy producers buying and selling permits to emit carbon, transaction fees for exchanges and clearing alone could top nearly half a billion dollars.

… An infrastructure is already beginning to form, as entities like the New...

The Syrian military edifice is crumbling

First

Into the fray: Stupid, seditious or suicidal?

By

When both reason, reality fail to impact on two-staters, Arab-appeasers, Muslim-mollifiers, perhaps all that remains is ridicule.
Dennis Ross

Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish.

    – Euripides

During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.

    – George Orwell

I must admit to a growing sense of exasperation and impatience with the imbecility (or iniquity) of the Israeli Left and the impotence (or insincerity) of the Israeli Right. So if my frustration expresses itself more intemperately than usual – my apologies.

The crumbling edifice

But when confronted with such infuriating dogmatism on the one hand, and inept dereliction on the other, everyone has his limit when it comes to courtesy and decorum.

And there are indeed limits – a limit to how long one can extend the benefit of the doubt to those who insist on advancing a consistently failed policy and still continue to believe they are doing so in good...

The Brotherhood’s useful idiots

The West was duped by the so-called ‘Arab Spring’. Today, however, the blindness is voluntary, dangerous and repulsive. Why? More importantly, what it means

You have to hand it to the Muslim Brotherhood. They know how to play power politics. They know how to acquire power. And they know how to use power.

Last Friday, the day before Egyptian voters by most accounts elected the Brotherhood’s candidate Muhammed Morsy to serve as Egypt’s next president, the Wall Street Journal published a riveting account by Charles Levinson and Matt Bradley of how the Brotherhood outmaneuvered the secular revolutionaries to take control of the country’s political space.

The Brotherhood kept a very low profile in the mass demonstrations in Tahrir Square in January and February 2011 that led to the overthrow of then president Hosni Mubarak. The Brotherhood’s absence from Tahrir Square at that time is what enabled Westerners to fall in...

Welcome to Israel-America Renaissance Institute

By Ted Belman

What Paul Eidelberg has to say is always important and worthwhile. His latest article Netanyahu, Kissinger, Metternich, and Statecraft is no exception.

When I first made aliya, Paul Eidelberg was my neighbour and we saw each other from time to time. Then he disappeared from my horizen.

Now he has resurfaced as head of Israel=America Renaissance Institute. (I-ARI)

This web site has this to say about him and his institute:

Internationally known political scientist, author and lecturer, Paul Eidelberg is founder and president of the Israel-America Renaissance Institute (I-ARI) with offices in Jerusalem and Philadelphia.

Prof. Eidelberg served in the United States Air Force where he held the rank of first lieutenant. Naftali Bennet’s Plan to take over Area C

Op-Ed: A Doable Plan for Managing the Israeli-PA Arab Conflict
Published: Monday, March 05, 2012 11:08 AM in INN

The plan to extend Israeli sovereignty in Area C has three distinct advantages, described below, including that of achieving tranquility in the entire area. Most important, it is doable.

Naftali Bennett
The writer was Chief of Staff of the office of Prime Minister Netanyahu and General Manager of the Council of Judea and Samaria.

Editor’s Note: Naftali Bennett was chosen by FoxNews to comment on Obama’s speech to AIPAC, but he has recently been in the news in Israel for the plan below.

This article was translated from the Hebrew newspapaer Makor Rishon. Area C represents 59% of Jand S and contains 300,000 Jews and onoly 55,000 Arabs.

During the two years I spend at the Council of Judea and Samaria, not a day passed without someone saying to me: Okay, we understand that a Palestinian state is a terrible idea. But what is your solution? What do you suggest? ...

Washington Backs Islamists as Sinai and Gaza Explode

.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the Obama administration is “deeply concerned” by the Egyptian military regime’s having seized powers so as to prevent a Muslim Brotherhood takeover of the country.

Pentagon press secretary George Little said that “We…urge the to relinquish power to civilian-elected authorities….” State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said that “We are particularly concerned by decisions that appear to prolong the military’s hold on power.”

As the report notes, the military regime’s move is aimed at preventing the Brotherhood’s presidential candidate Mohamed Morsi—if he has indeed been elected—from “declaring war without the agreement of the ruling generals.”

In other words, it’s a move aimed at preventing an Egyptian attack on Israel, the total collapse of Israeli-Egyptian peace, and a drastic regional destabilization.

The generals are not acting against the Islamists because...

Canada: Anti-Semitic Church Attack on Israel

This hatred has nothing to do with the so-called “occupation,” as Palestinian schoolchildren are taught to believe, but is instead fuelled by Israel having a different ideology of true Democracy and Human Rights in a region where most leaders are hostile to both.

The United Church of Canada has released the 26 page report of its Working Group on Israel/Palestine Policy, which the church will consider introducing as policy when the denomination’s 41st General Council convenes in Ottawa August 11-18. The Working Group indicates that its recommendations were put forth in search of truth, justice and reconciliation when in fact it does little or nothing of the sort. It refers to Israel as the “thief,” the “occupier,” and the “oppressor,” and compares Israeli policies to those of South Africa under apartheid, and more shockingly to Sudan, despite the fact that people from Africa risk their lives...

Canada-Israel ‘solidarity’ includes defence partnership

The Canadian Press

Israel has received private assurances Canada stands ready to help defend the Jewish state, but just how far the Harper government intends to take that commitment remains unclear.

Newly released documents say Defence Minister Peter MacKay told Israel’s top military commander, Maj.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, during a 2011 visit to the Middle East, that “a threat to Israel is a threat to Canada.”

The statement came a year after cabinet colleague Peter Kent was upbraided as junior foreign affairs minister for telling a Toronto-based publication that “an attack on Israel would be considered an attack on Canada.”

The declaration, appearing in an internal summary of MacKay’s trip to Israel, could have important implications given the increasing military co-operation between the two countries.

Under the Harper government, Canada’s support of Israel has been unwavering, even in the face ofmounting international tensions over...
