By Ted Belman Ever since 1967 I read Commentary from cover to cover and kept all the issues. But I no longer worship them as I did. For one thing there is a lot of opinion to choose from these days and for another thing, the response by Seth Mandel in this weeks Commentary Mag took Danny Dayon to task for his “wrongheaded” comments in the NYT article. Mandel accused him of ignoring “both an accepted reality and the Palestinian people”. Further that “two of his ideas contained in the op-ed would be, if accepted, detrimental to the American foreign policy doctrine that results in such steadfast American support for Israel.” “[Egypt's] Muslim Brotherhood prevented the Copts, at gunpoint, from voting” by Raymond Ibrahim, GATESTONE INSTITUTE U.S.-backed rebels are committing Christian genocide in Syria, where they are sacking churches and issuing threats that all Christians will be cleansed from rebel-held territory. A mass exodus of thousands of Christians is taking place, even as mainstream Western reporters, such as Robert Fisk, demonize these same Christians for being supportive of the secular regime. The bloody jihad waged against Nigeria’s Christians, which has seen hundreds killed this year alone, now includes plans to kill Christians with poisoned food, as part of the Islamic organization Boko Haram’s stated goal of purging Nigeria of all Christian presence. WHATEVER word you use to describe Israel’s 1967 acquisition of Judea and Samaria — commonly referred to as the West Bank in these pages — will not change the historical facts. Arabs called for Israel’s annihilation in 1967, and Israel legitimately seized the disputed territories of Judea and Samaria in self-defense. Israel’s moral claim to these territories, and the right of Israelis to call them home today, is therefore unassailable. Giving up this land in the name of a hallowed two-state solution would mean rewarding those who’ve historically sought to destroy Israel, a manifestly immoral outcome. Of course, just because a policy is morally justified doesn’t mean it’s wise. However, our four-decade-long settlement endeavor is both. The insertion of an independent Palestinian state between Israel and Jordan would be a recipe for disaster. Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton is calling Barack Obama “the most hostile president” toward Israel since the Jewish state was created, saying his policies have “actually set the peace process back” in the Middle East. Responding to a tweet Tuesday from Vice President Joe Biden that Obama “has done more for Israel’s security than any president since Harry Truman,” Bolton declared, “That’s just ridiculous.” “This is the most hostile president since the state of Israel was created,” Bolton told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren Tuesday night. “He’s demonstrated that hostility right from the beginning of his administration.” By Hezki Ezra, Elad Benari, INN Arabs and Israelis, right and left, Muslims, Christians and Jews came together Thursday for aconference in Washington on the Oslo Accords. The diverse crowd had one thing in common – all agreed that the Oslo Accords have failed to bring peace, and that an alternative must be found. Arutz Sheva attended Thursday’s conference, “Oslo 20 Years Later,” which brought together a panel of journalists, policy experts and government officials who are shaping the future of peace in the Middle East, for a candid conversation about the prospects for peace in the Middle East in light of the failed peace process. He is not a fan of Jewish settlements east of the Green Line, and he has said that He recently wrote this about the Levy Commission report, which concluded that Jews have a right to live in Judea and Samaria: “Anti-Semitism was long justified by passages like this one from I Thessalonians: the Jews “killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets.” Introduction: The purpose of this blogstream is to investigate the historical foundations for the West’s Jewish Problem, how such a thing as the Holocaust could occur. Such an investigation must begin with the source of religious anti-Judaism in Christian scripture, which begins today. Future writings will trace anti-Judaism through centuries of theological interpretation and development and, eventually, its transformation to secular antisemitism. First century Roman frieze depicting Titus victory over Judea (Wikipedia) So long as Jew hatred remained within religion it victims might find relief through conversion. But with the 18th century Age of Reason; once Jewish identity was described by “science” by bloodline and genealogy; once, in other words, religious anti-Judaism morphed into secular antisemitism “conversion” not even religion would provide refuge.
