Kurds threaten Turkey

Now that the collapse of the Assad regime seems imminent, the Kurds in that country are laying a claim on its northern regions. A Syrian Kurdish leader threatened Turkey that his men would turn northern Syria would turn into a bloodbath in the event of Turkish intervention. The Kurdish mayor of Diyarbakir in Turkey also spoke out against intervention in Syria. He complained that the hopes of the Kurds should not be a matter of concern for Turkey's government adding that Kurdish administrations would eventually rise in parts of Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Iran whether we liked it or not. Their capitals would be Diyarbakir, Erbil, Kamisli and Mahabad respectively. Repeating demands for a political and administrative status, he threatened that unless Turkey complied with these demands, the future would be even more violent than now. Meanwhile Turkey contacted the Kurdish regional authorities in northern Iraq and conveyed hopes that they would not disappoint. They are inclined to pick a fight with Iraqi soldiers over what's going on in Syria.
