Climate change: a hot dry summer

Monday 6 August 2012

The Texas drought last year, the Russia heat wave in 2010 and other extreme weather "certainly would not have occurred" without global warming, according to a paper prepared by NASA's James Hansen.

"We now know", he says, "that the chances these extreme weather events would have happened naturally - without climate change - is negligible".

But, given that the climate models were predicting hot dry summers, and we've had a cool, exceptionally wet summer (see above pic – yesterday in Yorkshire) with even the limpiks being soaked, can we assume that we're excused global warming?

If so, and we have been left out, how come it's global warming?
