French Police Evacuate Roma Camp in Paris, Expel Roma From Lyon


'Police have evacuated a migrant camp belonging to the Roma community in a southern suburb of the French capital and expelled a group of Roma people from the heart of the eastern city of Lyon.
The Sucey-en-Brie camp, one of the biggest camps in France housing at least 800 Roma, was evacuated on Thursday. French authorities said the evacuation of the camp, housing the Roma community since 2011, was due to the construction of a highway extension. The police also expelled about 80 Roma people from the center of Lyon prior to a visit by Interior Minister Manuel Valls.'

 

Yemenis Storm US Embassy in Sana’a, Four Killed, 34 Injured



'At least four Yemeni protesters have been killed by security forces in Sana’a during a demonstration against a blasphemous anti-Islam movie, produced by an Israeli-American in the United States.
On Thursday, Yemeni protesters stormed the US embassy in the capital. Thirty-four demonstrators also sustained injuries in the clashes “that lasted from morning until late in the evening,” AFP reported, saying that eight of the injured were in serious condition.

The police used water cannons and fired warning shots to disperse the protesters.'


 

Fuego Volcanic Eruption in Guatemala Forces 1000s to Flee


'Guatemala’s emergency agency CONRED says tens of thousands of people had to be evacuated after the Fuego volcano southwest of the capital erupted.
The agency stated on Thursday that the volcano, located about 40 kilometers (25 miles) southwest of Guatemala City, erupted in the early afternoon and started spewing lava some 600 meters (2,000 feet) down two slopes, while ash flew three kilometers (two miles) upwards. Sergio Cabanas, CONRED’s director of emergency response, said people were leaving some 17 villages around the volcano.'
