A New Year of Creation

Just look at us now
The festival of Rosh Hashana, amongst other things, marks the anniversary of the creation of mankind. So as we begin the Hebrew year 5773 this is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the creativity of the citizens of the Jewish State.
Israeli researchers and bio-techs continue to create new medical treatments that could give patients a new lease of life in the coming year. Pluristem’s unique Placental eXpanded (PLX) stem cells continue to save people suffering from bone marrow failure. The latest was a 45-year-old man who had undergone chemotherapy and a bone-marrow transplant, due to leukemia. There were no side effects and the man has now been discharged from Hadassah medical centre in Jerusalem. Next, a Hebrew University researcher has created a method of using a synthetic, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic family of drugs to combat a variety of illnesses, while avoiding detrimental side effects. Finally, Israeli bio-tech Atox Bio announced that the US Food and Drug Administration has granted fast track designation to its lead product AB103, currently in development for the treatment of Necrotizing Soft Tissue Infections (NSTI). Currently, there are no approved treatments for NSTI, which has a high mortality rate.

BBC Backs Down; Threats of Physical Violence

Islam is “a legitimate subject of historical inquiry. I think there’s a degree to which Muslims, far more than Christians, have felt that the foundation myths of their religion are somehow historical fact, and it seems to me that they’re clearly not.” Tom Holland, author, Islam: The Untold Story, cancelled by BBC, after threats.
The British Broadcasting Corporation has cancelled the screening of a controversial documentary about the history of Islam after the presenter was threatened with physical violence.
The private screening was to take place, followed by a debate, at the BBC’s headquarters in London on September 13 before an audience of historians and opinion shapers.
Islam: The Untold Story” is a documentary by historian Tom Holland, a well-known British author, who examines the origins of Islam and argues that there is little written historical evidence to verify claims about the Muslim prophet Mohammed and the origins of Islam.

Iran pours more troops into Syria, ready to target Israel from Syria and Lebanon

DEBKAfile Special Report September 20, 2012, 10:50 AM
Iran continues to fly military personnel and quantities of weapons into Syria by civilian aircraft which cut through Iraqi airspace, American intelligence sources disclosed early Thursday, Sept. 20. UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon also said that, “Unfortunately, both sides, government and opposition forces, seem to be determined to see the end by military means.”
Clearly, Iran is augmenting its military involvement in the constantly escalating Syrian civil war, broadening it into a multinational conflict which threatens to drag Lebanon in, by means of the Iranian-Syrian ally, Hizballah.

The Associated Press reported that the ads call some radical Muslims “savage,” and New York transit officials called them “demeaning.”

The ad reads: “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad.”
