New Hitler to Address UN on Yom Kippur
AJC executive director David Harris writes:
"Tomorrow, along with Jews around the world, I will be at synagogue for Yom Kippur.
"At the same time, on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will unleash his anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, and anti-democratic message on an audience of world leaders at the UN General Assembly.
"How ironic.
"Ahmadinejad will be given a forum, and even welcomed as the new chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, in the General Assembly. And after numerous resolutions, strong speeches by world leaders, and intensified sanctions, Iran could cross the threshold of nuclear weapons capability in a matter of months."
Where is the outrage?
An Islamist Iran armed with nuclear weapons and long-range missiles would constitute the greatest threat to world peace since the rise of Nazi Germany, a threat even greater than than Stalinist Russia, which the United States was able to contain. Germany could not be contained; appeasement made war inevitable--on Germany's terms. Iran can't be contained; appeasement has made war with it inevitable. Must the conflict be fought on Iran's terms?
