It would have been better if the Government had never started spending beyond taxpayers’ means in the first place, but now it needs to slim down the bureaucracy in Whitehall. That will sadly mean some redundancies with the associated costs. We revealed that Ofcom, on the other hand, has managed to pay the redundancies but then squander the money by hiring back more staff!
