 UKIP CONFERENCE - DAY ONE

lvechurch Bugle 147  Conference Edition

Bugle reporting : Day One at UKIP B.ham Conference.

Bugle arrived in time for the : pre-lunch speeches, to a auditorium filled with party members and friends in a high state of anticipation, they were not to be disappointed.
Chairman Steve Crowther introduced Nigel, who in turn introduced several established and newer members who will be contesting local authority seats, and police commissioner posts in the near future, we wish them well.
The high level of ability that they bring with them was clear to see, and as they surely represent the future of our party, we more mature members, can rest secure in the knowledge that it is in good hands.
Nigel then introduced, what may be termed : our star acquisitions, in the form of Lord Hesketh,  and very recently : Lord Stevens of Ludgate.
Lord Hesketh will be remembered for his Hesketh Formula One team and star driver James Hunt, a World Championship winning combination in the mid seventies.
He is able to claim a strong link with Birmingham, as his grandfather served on the staff of Neville Chamberlain in the late 1930s, and he was keen to point out that Chamberlain should not be judged solely on his Munich meetings .
He was he said, a fine Chancellor who set in place much that stood us in good stead during the war years.
As a former Chief whip in the Lords and Party Treasurer, Alexander is a major coup for UKIP, and a damaging loss to them.
His speech was clear and precise, built on a wealth of knowledge and experience of British politics at the highest level, and demonstrating a deep patriotism and an even deeper concern over those currently running the nation.
A true gentleman, who will be a massive asset to us as a party.
Lord Stevens is a former Chairman of Express newspapers and his speech similarly expressed his deep felt disillusionment with his former party and it’s leading personnel.
He could be described as : reserved by nature, but this belies a steely resolve, and he is clearly someone to be reckoned with,  again a very valuable addition at the top level of the party.
Our representation in the Lords is now impressive.
Nigel was on top of his form, creating a palpable buzz in the Town Hall’s packed auditorium, by starting with a clear and concise explanation of the terms under which : he/we, would talk to other parties prior to the next general election .
This was at some variance with the reports in today’s press and media, and this met with the wholehearted support of his reassured audience .
His entire speech was confidently upbeat, and none could fail to be impressed by his faultless presentation of his message .
He was accorded a standing ovation, and the conference adjourned for lunch in high spirits, and a feeling that their long slog over ten to fifteen years has been completely worthwhile, and is finally bearing fruit.
