Preppers and the Transition Movement

'"Preppers" got their name from being prepared. They see very hard times ahead and have been working to be ready - with energy systems, tools, food, water, guns, toiletries, first aid, pet food, etc. Those in urban areas who are out of touch with how bad the economy is or how peculiar the government has been acting (to put a nice spin on things) may have been coached by corporate media to see preppers as fanatics.
But to do so is to miss traditional wisdom - that wise families and communities should always being stocked up, storing surplus in good times to protect against shortages in lean times. And it is also to miss that the industrial food giants are in cahoots with the bankers, busily engineering food shortages for the sake of the mega-bucks that food riots generate.'

FSA moves HQ from Turkey to Syria to prepare offensive against Assad

'Syria’s main rebel group has moved its command center from the Turkish border into central Syria to prepare for an offensive against President Bashar al-Assad’s troops in Damascus. The Free Syrian Army made the announcement via video message.
It’s the first video message to be recorded by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) from Syria since the group founded its command center in Turkey 19 months ago, Al Jazeera reports.
“To the Syrian people, its freedom fighters and all the armed factions, we are glad to let you know that the leadership of the FSA has moved into Syria following arrangements made with other brigades that included securing liberated areas with the hope of launching the offensive on Damascus,” FSA commander Riyad al-Assad said.'

UK Hospitals on the Verge of Collapse as Socialized Medicine Fails

'If you want to get a good look at the future of healthcare in America, compliments of the "Affordable Care Act," the monstrosity reform law known not-so-affectionately known as Obamacare, look across the Atlantic to Great Britain. Because of that law, our system is set to become nearly as socialized a system of medicine as is the system in England, where top doctors are now predicting that a number of hospitals there are "on the brink of crisis," the BBC is reporting.

That's not politics, that's reality.'

'The policy of extreme austerity is leading the European Union down the road to disaster, Syriza leader Alexis Tsipras tells the Athens News, and only a broad popular mobilisation can stop it.'

UKIP Plans Election Deal with Tories

'UK Independence Party (UKip) leader Nigel Farage has made a proposal to the Conservatives for an electoral deal in return of an in/out referendum on Britain’s membership with the European Union (EU).
Farage urged that the Tories definitely promise such a referendum and have it “written in blood” to have Britain’s fate decided on where it stands in the EU. But Farage denied allegations that he was giving Tory candidates a deal for a clear run at the 2015 election in return for an EU referendum.'
