On October 8, 2012, the Mauritanian news website Sahara Media released a video message by 'Abd Al-Jalil Al-Faransi, an Al-Qaeda In The Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) operative "of French origin" who warns France and the U.S. against military intervention in northern Mali.
The following is a summary of the message:
Al-Faransi says that has been living with his wife and five children in Timbuktu for the last two years, and that he began his path in the way of Islam 30 years ago. He says that from age 25 to age 40, he worked as a merchant seaman, and that in his life he has had to deal with "commerce and international politics." He says he has travelled in the Maghreb region, Europe, and Ethiopia, where he worked for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), as well as in Egypt, Sudan, Djibouti, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. He says that when the First Gulf War he was working on an oil tanker. He adds that he was in India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Australia, South Africa, Latin America, and lately Mauritania and Mali.
Al-Faransi says in the message that he is "horrified, but not surprised" that the UN, France and the U.S. want military intervention in the Sahel region, rather than in Syria against Bashar Al-Assad. He asks, "How can you threaten war against mujahideen in northern Mali because they observe the shari'a of God, and at the same time you fail to punish the Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad?"

Hizb Ut-Tahrir Pakistan Warns Tehran: 'We Denounce The Sending Of Iranian Troops To Support The Tyrant Of Syria And American Agent, Bashar Al-Assad'

Recently, the Pakistani branch of Hizb ut-Tahrir, a global Islamist network campaigning for the revival of the Islamic caliphate, condemned the Iranian rulers for sending troops to assist Syrian ruler Bashar Al-Assad. In an open statement and a letter submitted[1] to the Iranian missions in Pakistan, the group also accused the Iranian leaders of working to further American hegemony by supporting Assad, and thereby preventing the emergence of a global Islamic caliphate. It also warned that Muslims in Iran, like their counterparts in the Arab world, will rise up against the Iranian rulers.

Press Statement: "Very Soon Iranian Muslims Will Seize Them [i.e. the Iranian Leaders] From Their Necks, As Their Brothers Seized Their Rulers In The Arab World"
Following are excerpts from an October 9 press statement by Hizb ut-Tahrir:
"[A] delegation from Hizb ut-Tahrir delivered an open letter for Iranian leadership from Hizb ut-Tahrir Wiliayah Pakistan to Iranian mission in Lahore. This letter was written against lending support to Bashar Al-Assad, the murderer of Syrian people and an enemy of Allah and His Messenger… from Iranian leadership. This letter condemned the act of Iranian leadership that they have supported an American agent Bashar, sending Iranian soldiers to Syria to fight against Syrian people, and killing of Syrian Muslims by Iranian Revolutionary Guards along with the most notorious 'Shabiha' militia.
