The news is important, however, confirming what many observers have predicted--namely, that the party will gradually move toward a more democratic one-party system. There will be more voting--within a party framework--and the leaders will eventually assert that China's model for developing nations is every bit as democratic as, say, America's two-party system, if not more so.
