Will there be a tectonic shift in attitudes toward the Middle East among Democrats in the next Congress?
Gone will be many Democratic heavyweights who could be counted as loyal supporters of the pro-Israel cause. Howard Berman, ranking Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, was defeated by Brad Sherman in an intraparty race; Shelley Berkley resigned from the House to pursue a failed Senate campaign; Rep. Steve Rothman was defeated by Rep. Bill Pascrell in the Democratic primary; Sen. Joe Lieberman declined to run again; Gary Ackerman, ranking Democrat on the House Mideast subcommittee, retired rather than face a bitter primary fight; and Rep. Barney Frank retired. Entering Congress, meanwhile, is a new class of Democrats with weaker ties to Israel, such as Tammy Baldwin (previously a member of the House), Ann McLane Kuster, and Tammy Duckworth.

Rabbi Baruch Efrati believes Jews should ‘rejoice at the fact that Europe is paying for what it did to us for hundreds of years by losing its identity.’ He praises Islam for promoting modesty, respect for God
bY Kobi Nahshoni, YNET
As concerns grow over the increasing number of Muslims in Europe, it appears not everyone is bothered by the issue, including an Israeli rabbi who even welcomes the phenomenon.
Rabbi Baruch Efrati, a yeshiva head and community rabbi in the West Bank settlement of Efrat, believes that the Islamization of Europe is actually a good thing.
“With the help of God, the gentiles there will adopt a healthier life with a lot of modesty and integrity, and not like the hypocritical Christianity which appears pure but is fundamentally corrupt,” he explained.

The re-election of Barack Obama begs the question whether, as he had done in his first term, the US president would focus his attention on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. While the resolution of the conflict was high on the administration’s agenda four years ago, that is no longer the case.
Obama II will certainly address the Palestinian issue, but not with the same vigor and determination that characterized the first term.
The president will undoubtedly not abandon the Palestinian issue for it is dear to his heart and personal ideology. Furthermore, Obama has made promises to PLO leader Mahmoud Abbas to give the Palestinian cause serious consideration in exchange for the Palestinians delaying their unilateral bid for statehood at the United Nations.

Two weeks ago I wrote,
Qatar is more active than you know. Meotti’s article adds greatly to the picture. Qatar is the richest country in the world per capita and only has 1.87 million people. It is totally in bed with Obama and the MB. Probably Turkey should be added to the bed. While Saudi Arabia focuses on the US, Qatar focuses on North Africa and the ME and on Europe.
The biggest problem is that Qatar is dedicated to the destruction of Israel and the Jewish people. This is ignored by Obama who has formed a grand alliance with them. Ted Belman
Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal maintains a residence in Qatar, while the Taliban opened their first representation in a foreign country in its capital, Doha.
A hateful wind emanating from the small Islamic emirate is now blowing toward Europe, a wind accompanied by an ocean of poisonous, oily, bloody money – all coming from the peninsula in the Persian Gulf which today is the world’s richest country.
As the 193-member U.N. General Assembly prepares to vote Monday for 18 of the 47-members of the Human Rights Council, in an election where the U.S. may lose, human rights groups have warned that many counties up for election remain unfit under the U.N.’s own membership criteria.
Pakistan, Venezuela, Kazakhstan, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Gabon, and the United Arab Emirates—all of whose candidacies are uncontested and therefore virtually guaranteed—are unfit to serve in a council that claims to uphold human rights, while the qualifications of Kenya and Sierra Leone remain “questionable”, UN Watch said in a statement.
The evaluations were published today by two non-governmental organizations, the Geneva-based UN Watch and Human Rights Foundation, after being presented Friday at a U.N. Headquarters briefing before diplomats and reporters from international news agencies.

Four years ago when Abbas stopped negotiating, he effectively abandonned Oslo. Now it appears he may make that official. He has concluded that nothing is to be gained by negotiating, He is placing his bet on the UN to deliver a state to him. If Oslo is officially abrogated then so is the Roadmap which includes the settlement freeze. Everyone will focus on whether the Fourth Geneva Convention applies and if yes whether the settlements are illegal. But Israel shouldn’t simply participate in the debate. It should act like it believes the settlements are legal. AND BUILD MORE.
So why is Obama dead set against the UN bid? He wants the role of moderator in negotiation so that he has a world platform and can pressure Israel winning him brownie points with the Muslims. No peace process no moderator.
Secondly he wants Gaza to be quiet so he pressures Eqypt quietly to negotiate a truce. He also sends the Emir of Qatar to Gaza to get Hamas to stop shooting. Why you ask? Obama is embracing the MB as secular, moderate and democratic. Since Hamas is the progeny of the MB he wants it to wear the same mantel. If the MN or Hamas turned violent it would destroy his who game plan and make it difficult to sustain his embrace. Nevertheless, Morsi still won’t meet with Israelis. Ted Belman

The Oslo Accords between the PLO and Israel will cease to exist the day after the UN votes in favor of upgrading the status of a Palestinian state to non-member, Abbas Zaki, member of the Fatah Central Committee, was quoted Thursday as saying.
