OPPORTUNITY BECKONS

The events in Gaza offer an opportunity to Mr. Netanyahu to redeem
himself for the blunder of giving away to the Arabs the strategic Gaza
strip -- the consequences of which are now vividly apparent.
A strategic ground strike by Israel can now undo this misstep and leave
the Gaza without an outside supply line from the Sinai. To do this, Israel
must cut off the southern tip, creating a ten mile wide military zone
cleansed of all Arabs, military and civilian -- the kind done to the
Jewish residents. It is time to stop with the phony threatening and
warnings but to decisively act to remove Gaza as an Arab base for
assaults on Israel.
If Mr. Netanyahu fails to come through in this, he will have clearly shown
his flawed mettle and present the case for not electing him to another
term as prime minister.
