Hard-Left NUJ Loons Plan Leveson March on Wapping

Lefty loons at the NUJ are gearing up for the imminent publication the Leveson Report. The  NUJ London Magazine Branch, with help from the TUC, are planning on marching on Wapping when it comes out because “smashing of trade unions at News International’s Wapping plant in 1985-86 was a major defeat for every trade unionist in the country.” It also kept British newspapers alive.
They’ve passed the following motion:
This branch believes:
  • The lack of union organisation at News International and other major newspaper groups contributed to the unethical practices that ensued at titles such as the News of the World.
  • The publication of the Leveson report offers a major opportunity to organise a demonstration to Wapping calling for the recognition of trade unions at News International publications, and every other major newspaper group where trade union organisation does not exist.
  • The branch resolves to call on trades councils neighbouring the Wapping plant, such as Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham, to in turn call on the South East Regional TUC to organise a demonstration to Wapping as soon after the publication of the Leveson report as possible.
Ah, so that’s why people hacked phones.

Exclusive: What Was Discussed at Secret BBC Climate Seminar
Coverage “Exaggerated the Risk of Climate Change”

Yesterday Guido brought you thelist of names the BBC has spent six years trying to keep secret, revealing the “scientists” who set the Beeb’s editorial climate policy were nothing more than a crackpot assortment of pseudo-experts and hippy campaigners. Guido can now exclusively reveal what was discussed at the infamous meeting. Held under Chatham House rules, the quotes that have surfaced make for very interesting reading.
An academic paper containing evidence from previous seminars shows that“specialists” and BBC bosses admitted their editorial stance could be exaggerating the risks of climate change. An anonymous documentary maker explains: “shots might be set up this way, with the member of the public saying I’m suffering (from global warming) even if the causal link cannot be directly drawn”. According to one media specialist, “on account of the weak understanding of science, there are now instances of coverages that exaggerate the risk of climate change… this is unthinkable in spheres such as economics or politics”Unbelievably, these unnamed journalists are admitting  exaggerating the risks of climate change.
The report concludes that the seminar highlighted the “tangled web” of the BBC’s editorial policy on climate change, finding that output would often form a “mis-translation” of the truth.  The extent of bias in reporting led to “comparisons with the evident normative stance in editorial lines on terrorism, human rights, and child labor”. TheBBC spent a six-figure sum to keep this secret. Now we know why…

Fabians Elect Denis MacShane to Committee

The history of the Fabian Society is full of evil, though Guido was under the impression they were pretending they had cleaned up their act. Their AGM takes place on Saturday in SW1, and a certain fraudster is due to take up his position on their committee:
Fabian Society Executive Committee Elections 2012/13
Elected
Stephen Twigg 607
Rachel Reeves 600
Sadiq Khan 556
Vera Baird 478
Denis MacShane 471
Jessica Asato 454
Austin Mitchell 429
Kate Green 401
Seema Malhotra 392
Suresh Pushpananthan 390
Kate Groucutt 385
Sara Ibrahim 372
Sundar Thavapalasundaram 287
Ivana Bartoletti 277
Sally Prentice 276
The last famous Fabian to go to prison was Oswald Mosley.
UPDATE: Fabians get in touch to say Denis is out.

Guardian Bails on Hayes Greenpeace ‘Investigation’
+ + + Wind ‘Conspiracy’ Minister Not Energy Minister at Time + + +

Yesterday the Guardian’s Paul Lewis, based on an “investigation” carried out by Greenpeace, put to anti-windfarm campaigner James Delingpole the following conspiracy theory:
  • That Heaton-Harris and you were coordinating a secret plot also involving the Energy Minister, John Hayes.
  • You attended a secret meeting with Heaton-Harris and Hayes to discuss the plan.
  • Hayes’ comments published in the Daily Mail and Telegraph on October 31, 2012, which were initially intended as a speech to the RenewableUK wind conference, were carefully timed to coincide with you withdrawing your candidacy from the by-election and subsequent endorsement of the Conservative position on wind farms.
Last night it ran on the front page the headline:
  • Minister “Linked” to Corby plan
On Twitter last night Guido got into a spat with Ian Katz, the deputy editor of the Guardian:
Only one problem with the conspiracy theory is that it was – apart from Chris Heaton-Harris bragging about his links to Delingpole – demonstrably untrue. He and Heaton-Harris MP are both anti-windfarm campaigners, they are allies and they regularly talk to each other. No big deal, Delingpole is after all his constituent. However a plot involving the Energy Minister John Hayes would be worth a front page. Anyone following the issue would be aware that there is a policy shift going on and enthusiasm for the expensively subsidised windmills is much diminished in austerity governments all over the world. That shift was clearly signalled by the appointment of Hayes during the last reshuffle.
The idea that Hayes was in on a secret plot centred on Delingpole’s Corby campaign is demonstrably nonsense. Delingpole told the Speccie he was going to run in Corby on August 8, 2012, Hayes was only appointed as Energy Minister on September 4, 2012. The supposed plotters could not possibly know that would happen.
Delingpole told Guido when Hayes made the no-more-windfarms speech that he was pleased to be off the hook of running a time-consuming campaign destined to be unsuccessful at the ballot box – “I needed an excuse”. A pretty good excuse given the policy change was a complete victory as this blog reported on the day:

Even in the video recorded by Greenpeace, Heaton-Harris confirms “it was just fortuitous timing”, yet Greenpeace was still allowed to spin on theGuardian’s front page that there was a conspiracy in Corby “linked” to the Energy Minister. Readers might think it was a Guardian story, it wasn’t, it was put together by Greenpeace as a package for the cash-strapped, loss making Guardian – out-sourced like the Bureau of Investigative Journalism’sNewsnight paedo story. John Sauven, Greenpeace’s executive director, says it was “their investigation”. If you outsource investigative journalism to a political campaign, this is what happens. Conspiracy theories replace evidence…
  • There was no coordinated plot involving Hayes.
  • There was no meeting of all three.
  • The speech and Delingpole’s withdrawal from the Corby campaign were not “carefully timed to coincide”.
The Guardian has grudgingly changed the headline online this morning to“Energy minister denies collusion”The wind has been taken out of the story…

Labour Insider: Rotherham Favourite Blocked ‘Because Muslim’

Mahroof Hussain was seemingly a dead cert to be selected as Labour’s candidate for the Rotherham by-election following the demise of Denis MacShane. A Labour councillor for ten years, Hussain helped fight extremism as part of a Home Office task force following the 7/7 bombings and was even awarded an MBE in 2008. So why was this local hero rejected by Labour central command? According to the Guardian:
“One Labour insider said Hussain had been the “red hot favourite” locally but as a Muslim man was deemed too much of a risk to the party in the wake of the child sex grooming scandal involving Pakistani males in the constituency which has prompted far right protests in the constituency.”
The decision provoked uproar:
Respect are going big in the seat…

Tories Squabble on Press Freedom

Last week Guido brought you the enemies of freedom on the Tory benches, and their coordinated attacks on the free press. Well at least some are putting up a fight against a self-preservation society for politicians and paedos:

Robert
Sadly I do not share the enthusiasm shown by my 40 colleagues for statutory regulation of the press (independent or otherwise). Regulation leads to censorship and censorship is the first tool of dictatorships. Sorry but on this occasion I cannot support you.
Best
Gordon
And CCd to the all Tory MPs for good measure.
