Strong-arm tactics and why I left the Tories for UKIP
LORD ASHCROFT'S polling shows that UKIP is a big threat to a future Conservative government. This comes as no surprise. Having fought the last General Election as a Tory candidate,
Various strong arm tactics were employed to keep me quiet. It didn't work, so I left and it now seems others are in droves.
Lord Ashcroft is wrong when he says it's 'a battle between the party of easy answers and the party of tough decisions'. That's a throwaway line, used by those who oppose UKIP to dismiss us as headline grabbers.
We have fully costed policies on all domestic and foreign issues. I'm currently working on family and childcare policy, and a quick look at our website will show policies on tax, defence, policing, NHS, education and more.
Holding a referendum on the EU will assuage some Tory voters, but until the Conservative Party returns to Conservative values, UKIP will continue to benefit.
And let's not forget that it's not only Tory voters who are turning to us: in the North of England, it's Labour voters who are fed up with rotten education, the high cost of climate change policies on their fuel bills, unemployment directly linked to eastern European immigration, and a Labour Party run by a London elite who have never had a job outside politics.
