Benghazi and free speech 

"But it is vital to recognise that America is a dramatic outlier when it comes to the freedom to express inflammatory, hatemongering, racist speech. In this regard, we are different from virtually every other liberal democracy…

So wrote Erik Bleich, a political science professor at Middlebury College, in a column that appeared in al Jazeera online, in the aftermath of the Benghazi terrorist attack. 

The voices calling for suppression of free speech in America are growing. We're glad America is "different from virtually every other
liberal democracy" when it comes to free speech. But we need to defend it.
