UKIP’s candidate in the Eastleigh by-election is Councillor Diane James, currently a member of Waverley Borough Council in Surrey.
Good luck to her. But more interestng in the report I read was LibDem leader Nick Clegg’s shilly-shallying on the criminal he had at his right hand for more than a few years…. he would not say it was his duty to say sorry for his former colleague Mr Huhne, who awaits sentence for perverting the course of justice. Asked repeatedly, Mr Clegg said: “Chris Huhne needs to speak for himself.” 
But what does it say about Clegg’s own judgement, that he clasped this liar to his bosom, especially in view of his and ‘Snake’ Cameron’s readiness to overlook shameful wrong-doing by another senior Coalition MP, the ghastly ‘gay,’ David Laws.

Government sources said the senior Liberal Democrat stepped down as Treasury Chief Secretary while parliamentary watchdogs investigated his expenses claims.
David Cameron and Nick Clegg, the Lib Dem leader, were understood at first to have been willing to let Mr Laws remain in his key post, at least over the weekend.
So the ‘happy couple’ – I refer not to the homos but to the hypocrites, Cameron and Clegg – saw no reason for action against this dishonourable creature?

Instead they gave it what one might call an indecent interval and brazenly brought him back into their Coalition’s clammy embrace.
And Labour failed abysmally to perform its role of Opposition and protest the sleaze-bag’s return to ministerial glory.
For return he did, restored to ministerial office – with nobody appointed to keep an eye on his renewed access to the ‘snouts-in-the-trough’ expenses milieu which permeates Westminster these days – and there he remains, while poor old lying Huhne is left to howl in the outer darkness. Though Clegg won’t say anything against him either – I’ll bet Huhne gets a peerage sooner or later!
