Mercer Feared Guido Would Get Him Again
Wet Blanket Standards Commissioner Least of Crook’s Worries
As disgraced cash-for-questions Tory Patrick Mercer plotted his dodgy Fiji deal, there was one thing concerning him above all else:

By the admission of a crooked MP, the rules are so weak that an Honourable Member thinking of taking cash for questions or selling amendments to lobbyists dismisses the threat of reprimand. Guido and the rest of the free press are the only ones guarding the guardians. As someone, somewhere once said: sunlight is the best disinfectant…
“Do you know the website Guido Fawkes? Guido Fawkes will be all over this. Like a dose of clap. He really will. Trying to find out where the corruption is in it.”He wasn’t worried about being caught by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner, he was worried about Guido. PM to Attend Bilderberg Meeting

Dave promised a “new era of transparency“ under this government. Number 10 says tonight’s meeting will be private and they will not reveal who he speaks to or what is said.
Dave Less Popular Than Tories For First Time
One of Dave’s best defences against leadership chatter has been the line that he is personally more popular than the Tory party as a whole. Worryingly for him, for the first time that is no longer the case. This Lord Ashcroft poll is pretty bad for the PM:

Drugs, Cash and Labour Leaflets
The Jonah curse struck again yesterday as the Prime Mentalist’s photo op pal Abid Hussian was jailed for a £19 million money laundering racket. Labour MP Fabian Hamilton turned up at his trial to provide a character reference, insisting that Abid was a “moral, honest” guy and that “it was far more likely it was a bag full of leaflets” than a bag full of drug cash that he was smuggling into the country. Leaflets like these perhaps?
