US to transfer $1.3B in military aid to Egypt

The reasons given are not believable. We should watch if Egypt takes more control of the Sinai.
WASHINGTON – Secretary of State John Kerry last month approved $1.3 billion in annual US military aid to Egypt, despite concerns over democratic progress by the country’s new government, a US official said Friday.
All such aid is “carefully considered,” State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters, but it was felt the funding was necessary to help “preserve important regional interests.”
On May 10, Kerry quietly approved the transfer of the annual aid, notifying the US Congress of his decision, she confirmed.

Kerry’s Secret Gift to Egypt

Last month John Kerry quietly approved huge arms shipments to Egypt—despite Cairo’s ongoing violation of human rights. Josh Rogin reports.
While employees of American NGOs sat in Egyptian prisons, Secretary of State John Kerry quietly waived the law that would prevent the U.S. from sending the Egyptian military $1.3 billion worth of weapons this year.
Congress erupted in anger June 4, when Egyptian courts sentenced 43 NGO workers, including 16 Americans, to jail terms of up to five years for working in NGOs not registered with the government. Only one of those Americans, the National Democratic Institute’s Robert Becker, actually stayed in Egypt to await the verdict. He was given two years in prison. The other American organizations targeted included the International Republican Institute and Freedom House. All of those organizations had been operating in the open in Egypt for several years before the government raided their offices and forced them to flee the country in December 2011.

PMO, urgently distancing itself from Danon’s comments

Bibi may be distancing himself but there is no evidence that he would support a TSS on Arab terms. The source said that the PM “is interested in a resumption of negotiations without preconditions,” and that his positions regarding support for a two-state solution remain in force.. Bibi is ready to embrace a non-existent solution. Big deal. Ted Belman

The Prime Minister’s Office on Saturday firmly distanced itself from comments made to the Times of Israel by Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon that a strong majority in the government and the coalition oppose a two-state solution with the Palestinians and would block the creation of a Palestinian state if such a proposal ever came to a vote.
Danon’s comments “do not represent the position of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the government of Israel,” the sources said in response to Danon’s interview, which was published on Thursday.

WHAT ISLAMIC SUPREMACISM REALLY IS

Our victory in this global conflict will only be assured when the majority of Americans (and all free people) truly understand the nature of the conflict. The common man is being willfully misled by the political and media elites about the religious imperative that is behind the Islamic war against the West. Most people have still never even heard of Islamic supremacism – or realize just how pervasive it is.
It starts with the Qur’an. In October 2011 I was on “Hannity” debating Muslim activist Michael Ghouse. On the show Ghouse presented me with an enormous Qur’an, courtesy of the Hamas-tied Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR): The Message of the Qur’an, Translated and Explained by Muhammad Asad. Ghouse is a “moderate,” and this is supposed to be a “moderate” translation.
