WATCH: Brillo Ridicules Chukapedia

Brillo had a lot of fun at Chuka’s expense with his mocked up Daily Politicsmug Wikipedia page this lunchtime.

For some reason today’s Lobbying Bill hasn’t gone down too well with one crowd in particular:

Change in Paywall Linking Policy

With the coming of Sun+ next month, where readers will be charged to read the paper online, four national newspaper websites will now be behind a paywall. As of August theTimes, FT, Telegraph and Sun will be asking readers to pay for content. Even if the “Digital First” Telegraph’s attempt at keeping out cheapskates is amusingly easy to dodge bygoing incognito, this means that four of the papers Guido is most likely to link to are now paywall protected. So it is time for a change of linking policy. Guido has previously tended not to link to paywall sites on Seen Elsewhere, using a ‘£’ sign on the rare occasions that links are given. Since so many papers have now succumbed to a paywall this no longer makes sense. So links will now be given to paywall sites as they would non-paywall sites, without a ‘£’ sign. If you are unable to remember if a website is behind a paywall, that is your problem.
Incidentally, it is still Guido’s view that websites without unique content won’t make a success of charging for that content online. The audience is still out on that one…

Beware the Ides of May: Dave’s Home Office Good News “Hijack”

With good news for the Home Office expected tomorrow in the shape of crime figures, the PM has decided to get in on the action. The day after a Tory backbencher tells their leader that “self-promoters” in the Cabinet should be “firmly put back in their box”, Guido understands that Dave will be joining the Home Secretary to bask in her reflected glory. A Whitehall source accuses Cameron of “deliberately hijacking” the day, though Home Office sources insist that they are “totally cool” with the planned joint visit tomorrow. Lets hope the TM and the PM remember to smile…

Tories Launch End of Term American Style Attack Ad on Ed

The Tories will go away from the last PMQs of term happier than the reds. The Labour frontbench looked like they had all shared a delicious cup-a-sick for elevenses by the end of the bout. For good measure the Tories have launched an American style attack on Ed over the job figures. Loving the bold, impact “Wrong, Ed” headlines…
UPDATE: Labour hit back with… a giant piece of cardboard.

Miliband’s Marlboro Man

Tobacco was top of the agenda at  PMQs today, with Ed Miliband puffing away about the Prime Minister’s indirect connections to Phillip Morris International via Lynton Crosby. But what of his own Marlboro Man? When Ed’s Political Relations Manager left his desk in the Leader of the Oppositions Office, where did he go? Phillip  Morris International, obviously.James Barge is now the Corporate Affairs Manager. When was was Labour leader last lobbied by his former aide?

School’s Out Edition No Nipples Please, We’re Her Majesty’s Telegraphog:

Guido was not the only one to perk up when he noticed the subtle difference between the front pages of the Telegraph’s print and iPad editions. As part of the new “digital first” strategy, it seems someone is employed to Photoshop nipples out of the print edition. Guido likes to keep you abreast of the bigger stories of the day.

Dave Ducks Pre-Summer Deckchair Reorganisation

Despite it being widely reported last week and over the weekend, Downing Street sources now say there will not be a reshuffle before the summer break. The idea of creating a new batch of disgruntled ex-ministers and letting them stew over a long hot summer did seem a little odd, yet their new claim that “it was never going to happen” should be taken with a lot of salt; especially given the imminent were being openly discussed by Tory staffers as late as last night at the PM’s media drinks party. That faint sound you can hear is Claire Perry gently sobbing…
