Merry Christmas!!!
Trump Says No To Dubai's Jew Hatred, Moves Miss Universe Pageant
The UAE sheikdom of Dubai, as regular members of Joshua's Army know is a racist, xenophobic and anti-Semitic place.
An occasional Jewish celebrity or sports figure is allowed there, rather the way South Africa's Sun City would occasionally have black performers but for the most part Dubai is a Jew free zone th eNazis would approve of. And that especially applies to Israelis, and has even before the 1967 War, when the 'Palestinians' supposedly became an issue...not that the Sheikdom of Dubai has ever cared squat for the Palestinians.
The country also has substantial ties to terrorist financing, was a drop ship point for illegal nuclear materials to Iran from places like Pakistan, is an enthusiastic participant in an Arab boycott against Israel that's against US law and refuses to comply with UN sanctions against Iran..yet for some reason the Bush Administration, which has always made such stirring pronunciations about being with the terrorists or being with us has always had the most cordial relations with them,, looked out for their interests and looked the other way whenever anything unpleasant came up. Justgood friends and bidness partners, you know?
Donald Trump, of all people, appears to have a different standard than the current occupant of the White House.
Dubai was scheduled to be the host of this year's Miss Universe pageant, which Trump is putting on. And when Dubai told Trump that a Miss Israel( it's Shunit Faragi this year, pictured above) would not be welcome in their country, he told them fuggedaboudit. And let them know he was moving the pageant.
Nicely done, Mr. Trump.
Ho Ho Ho! NYT Times Ad Revenues Down 20% From Last Year
I guess the NYT made Santa's naughty list...
The New York Times Co's (NYT.N) November advertising revenue fell 20 percent, the company said on Wednesday, illustrating how the financial crisis is aggravating dizzying revenue declines at U.S. newspapers.
Ad revenue at the publisher's New York Times Media Group, which includes the Times newspaper, fell 21.2 percent from a year earlier because of a drop in real estate and jobs classified advertising.
The company is also on Wall Street's list of companies most likely to go under in 2009. Couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch of folks.
Watcher's Council Nominations, 12/24/08 - Holiday Edition
The Watcher's Council is a group of some of the most incisive blogs in the`sphere. Every week, the members nominate two posts each, one of their own and one from outside the group for consideration by the whole Council.
So, let's see what we have this week....
COUNCIL
Joshuapundit - Cheney Slaps Biden Upside The Head -With less than a month to go before he retires, Vice President Cheney decided it was time for a little response to VP elect Joe Biden's trash talking, and took the occasion of a FOX news interview summing up his White House tenure to do so. I took the occasion to reflect on Cheney's tenure as well, and to highlight a little information concerning Cheney and ex SecDef Donald Rumsfeld's strategy for our involvement in Iraq that most people are totally unaware of.
The Provocateur - Obama Engulfed By Pay to Play? - This week, Mike examines the Blagojevitch scandal and its possible impact on Obama. I could be mistaken, but I believe it's unique in American history that a president should be involved in a scandal of this nature before he's even taken office! One question I've asked that should end up having a fascinating answer - why would did Blagojevitch risk approaching Obama and his staff in this manner unless they'd done business of this sort before?
Rhymes With Right - Impeach Jerry Brown - Greg discusses the craven behavior of California's attorney general Jerry Brown, who first pledged to defend Proposition 8 from legal challenges by the gay lobby an dlater eversed himself and actually filed a brief withthe California Supreme Court calling for overturning it. As Greg points out, this is not only a violation of the state constitution and the will of the people, but Brown's oath of office.
Bookworm Room - Destruction of Property - This week Ms. Bookworm has a superb rant on th emorality of people taking th elaw into their own hands and willfully destroying someone's lawfully acquired property to make a political statement.
The Glittering Eye - How to Give a Bonus - Credit Suisse has hit upon a unique way of awarding bonuses to its officers, and Dave Schuler heartilyapproves.
The Colossus of Rhodey - *Yawn* Lincoln “parallels” for Obama - Hube takes on the media's comparisons of Obama with Lincoln and finds them a bit factually challenged. I'm confused... wasn't Obama supposed to be FDR this week? Or am I simply not up on the latest?
Cheat-Seeking Missiles - Gay Anger At Warren Unwarranted - Laer takes on the tidal wave of rage by the gay lobby sparked by President-elect Obama's choice of Saddleback Church Pastor Rick Warren to perform the inaugural invocation.
The Razor- The Symbol of Oppression -A superb bit by Scott on a major symbol of oppression in our modern history. And no, he's not talking about the swatika.
Soccer Dad - Don’t get too chummy with that flaming dummy - In the wake of the infamous shoe throwing insult to President Bush ( and trust me, that was directed at every single American as well, regardless of what you think of the current occupant of the White House) Soccer Dad excoriates the media's double standard in reporting on violent protests in the Middle East.
Right Truth - Re-evaluating America’s Biggest Threat - The threat Debbie is writing about is not external attacks but jihad directed at America from within.
Mere Rhetoric - Smug Liberal Sophistication Undisturbed By Decades Of Disastrously Wrong Domestic And International Predictions - Omri uses a number of examples to make a point that should be self evident by now.; when it comes to the Left, facts are whatever suits the political agenda. As he puts it, "they just say stuff."
