Israel Navy Successfully Tests Barak Anti-Missile System

This week, the Israel Navy conducted a successful test firing of the Barak
anti-missile system, featuring an improved version of the missile that
includes upgrades to its rocket interception capabilities.

The Barak system is one of the most advanced anti-missile systems in the
world. It was jointly developed by the IDF, the Israel Navy, RAFAEL Advanced
Defense Systems Ltd. and the Israel Aerospace Industries.

During the test firing, a Barak missile was launched from the INS (Israel
Navy Ship) Lahav, a Sa'ar 5 type corvette, against a target simulating an
incoming enemy missile. The incoming missile was successfully intercepted.

Launched in a vertical position, the Barak missile saves deck space and is
able to fire at any target 360 degrees around the ship.

The Israel Navy is currently improving and modernizing its battle systems in
order to prepare for the security challenges facing Israel.
