Enter the Lisbon Treaty

It is the 1 December 2009 and the Lisbon Treaty enters into force. A warm welcome to Baroness Ashton, a female first in the top EU echelon. Brussels is a flurry of events from all corners on the significance and confusion over implementing the Lisbon Treaty and introducing the Spanish EU Presidency. But what is really happening behind the scenes and rhetoric of speakers on panels?

Below are some previous analyses by ISIS Europe as a prelude to our next edition of the European Security Review (out on 8 December) which will have articles on: the EAS; EU-NATO logistics; EU early warning; an overview of the Swedish Presidency and our regular CSDP & EU mission update.

Two upcoming ISIS supported events:

Thursday 17 December  2009 - WIIS Brussels cocktail evening (in support of women in security in the EU, including those such as Baroness Ashton, Commissioner Ferrero-Waldner, and female MEPs, PSC, PMG, CIVCOM and NATO representatives....) Details to come! www.wiis-brussels.org

Monday 18 January 2010 – launch of the Common Security and Defence Policy Mission Analysis Partnership (CSDP MAP) with the Spanish EU Presidency. Details to come! (www.csdpmap.eu)
