The FDA's Douglas C Throckmorton MD, cock up relief
In these tortured political times, we all need a spot of cock up relief. This has been so kindly provided by Douglas C. Throckmorton MD, the FDA's Deputy Director of the Center For Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) viz he Office Of Regulatory Policy (ORP). Dougy old boy, you really do need to watch it with the Reply Key in response to the One Click News Alerts emails. LOL! Especially about vaccines. See One Click Twitter.

2. Attempting To Intimidate WikiLeaks Won't Work
Wikileaks, the Internet whistle-blower, has outraged the Pentagon time and again after it published what appear to be classified Pentagon documents on how the war in Afghanistan has been carried out by NATO forces including the United States. While no one can deny that there are indeed legitimate National Security reasons for keeping secrets classified by governments, one can also point to many examples where governments, including the US, have abused this privilege, for instance, to hide murders and the killing of innocent civilians. The recently leaked documents contain many such examples. Wikileaks exists because of the vacuum that governments themselves helped create. This secrecy has allowed the US government, for instance, to carry out mass renditions, torture and disappear people. Had these governments been more forthcoming about their new tactics Wikileaks would have not seen the light of the day. The Pentagon tactic of intimidating Wikileaks will not work. To the contrary, it will help create more Wikileaks. It will be interesting to see how Wikileaks reacts to these latest threats from the Pentagon.

Three children mysteriously died on Sunday after administration of polio drops by a health team in Hajweri Town of Faisalabad. Reportedly, a team of health functionaries had administered the polio drops. Locals claimed that immediately after the administration of the polio drops, the condition of at least eight children deteriorated, due to which they were rushed to various nearby clinics. However, one-year-old Haseeb, son of Mahmood Ahmad, and two twin sisters, two-year-old Habiba and Areeba, passed away.

4. Avaricious Swine Flu Vaccine Doctors Paid Fortune By British Taxpayer
GP practices across Greater Manchester were paid almost £1.2m for giving the swine flu jab, we can reveal today. Surgeries were paid £5.25 for every patient they vaccinated. Surgeries in Manchester got the highest amount, with £262,006 paid out to 95 different doctors’ practices. NHS Stockport paid out £168,000, while £154,889 was paid to surgeries by health bosses in Wigan. Salford spent £122,000, while Trafford paid out £120,503. NHS Oldham paid £100,254 and Tameside PCT spent £117,237. The PCTs charged with looking after Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale and Bury spent comparatively less, with totals of £67,053 and £66,370 respectively. NHS Bolton declined to supply figures for the amount it spent on swine flu vaccinations. GPs said the money was spent contacting patients, administering the vaccine and taking on extra staff. The British Medical Association – which represents ran k-and-file GPs – had initially demanded £7 per shot but the lower figure was agreed after a wrangle with minister. One Click Note: The doctors and nurses took this money whilst refusing to vaccinate themselves and their families on safety grounds as the evidence shows. Vomit.

5. Feds Probe Payment Corruption In Overseas Drug Trial
The US Justice Department - along with the US Securities and Exchange Commission - is paying closer attention to interactions between the pharmaceutical industry and foreign governments. In recent months, at least five big drugmakers have received letters as the federal government seeks to uncover any violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which forbids US companies from bribing foreign government officials. Among those that have been contacted in recent months concerning their activities are AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Baxter, Eli Lilly and Merck. Among the countries cited are Brazil, China, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Russia and Saudi Arabia, according to Main Justice, which notes that the Arnold & Porter law firm recently issued a client advisory indicating the probe is also exploring whether drugmakers and clinical trial organizations pay off third-party investigators to finesse research data. Why? A recent report by the HHS Office of Inspector General noted that eight percent of marketing applications to the FDA in 2008 relied exclusively on foreign data, 80 percent of approved marketing applications for drugs and biologics relied on at least one foreign clinical study, and 78 percent of all human subjects were enrolled at foreign sites.

6. India Probes Clinical Trial For Theravance Drug
The Drug Controller General of India has ordered an inquiry into one of the clinical trials that were conducted at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre during which three people died. The trial was run by Quintiles and tested the Vibativ antbiotic. The trial, which was one of several that took place at the facility between 2004 and 2008, was established to care for survivors of the 1984 disaster at Union Carbide’s pesticide plant in Bhopal. At issue is whether informed consent was taken from the subjects, and why a hospital entrusted with the responsibility of treating victims of the gas tragedy and conducting research into preparations for similar emergencies was carrying out such trials, the news service writes. At least seven different human clinical trials were conducted at BMHRC and at least 10 deaths occurred during these trials.

7. Anesthesiologist Who Committed Major Fraud Claims Bipolar Made Him Do It
Dr Scott Reuben, psycho escape hatch at the ready!
(Caption & Pic Courtesy of One Click)
In 2009, Anesthesiology News reported that a routine audit at Baystate Medical Center (in 2008) uncovered "one of the largest research frauds in history" committed by anesthesiologist Scott Reuben, MD. Natural News reports that Dr Reuben, faces a 10 year prison term for fabricating data has agreed to repay several pharmaceutical companies and $50,000 in penalties to the U.S.government. In their effort to lighten his possible 10 year prison sentence, Dr Reuben's lawyers are grasping at the defense of last resort--the psychiatric escape hatch. They claim that Dr Reuben suffered from "serious, but undiagnosed" bipolar disorder which led him to fabricate data and falsify research. However, that tactic is unlikely to wash--Dr Reuben's wife is a psychiatrist! Glenn J. Treisman, a professor of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, expressed skepticism that Reuben, an MD married to a psychiatrist, could suffer from undiagn osed bipolar disorder for so long.

8. UK Social Workers - The Incompetent & Unaccountable Stalinists That Parents Fear
Responsible for the welfare, rights and health of U.K citizens, the Department for Social Services operates within every regional community throughout the U.K, providing services and advice which range from child welfare to mental health. Each regional council has its own Social Services division, with a department dedicated to child welfare and health monitoring. It is perhaps one of the most commonly criticized departments of Social Services, with many claiming that the individuals employed within the sub-department do not adhere to strict policies and codes of conduct, allowing their own feelings and interpretations to make sometimes poorly judged decisions. Social Services is ever increasingly coming under fire for the sheer number of blunders and wrong decisions made by social workers, assessing children at risk. They are both draconian and unfair in respect of many decisions to take children into care, described by victims of their acts as providing unsound and unjustified reasoning for doing so. Social services desperately needs some reformation, as do the laws surrounding the power and decisions of Social workers. At present, they seem to have the freedom to split up families with little supporting evidence of neglect or abuse. The Baby-P case may have made them more fearful of oversights, however it shouldn't mean that parents have to live in fear.

9. UK Social Services Forcibly Remove Child & Drag Family Through The Mud
Lisa and Paul Hessey spent a year fighting social
workers after their son was taken into care
The parents of a fussy-eating toddler have finally been cleared of neglect after he was wrongly taken into care. Lisa and Paul Hessey have spent a year fighting social workers after hospital doctors raised concerns over their son Zak’s “failure to thrive”. Officials said the Hesseys were not feeding Zak, two-and-a-half, and took him away after they had brought him for a hospital assessment. The couple suspected Zak was autistic but claim they were repeatedly ignored. Now specialists have confirmed he does have a developmental disorder and last week, a judge dismissed a family court case brought by social services. But the couple say they have been “dragged through mud”. Mrs Hessey, 28, of Bolsover, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire, said: “It has been a nightmare. We wanted to clear our names because we didn’t do anything wrong. When we took Zak to hospital we never thought this would happen. The doctors refused t o listen to us, they were determined to take him.” Mr Hessey, 48, said: “It has taken us a whole year to get him proper help and we have been through hell for no reason. The authorities seem to think they are God.”
