Taboo question no liberal reporter will ask President Obama: Whom do you support? The answer, of course, is the current Turkish PM, in spite--or because--of his Islamist orientation. Obama and his advisors see Islamizing, Iran-tilting Turkey as a model of so-called Islamic democracy, or Islamocracy.
Few Americans appreciate the administration's pro-Islamist position. Islamic clerical fascism, called Islamism, or (rightwing) political Islam, is seen by the White House as the wave of the future, a movement that is somehow progressive and thus in sync with "the moral arc of history." The Islamist sword and history's moral arc--in sync, according to Obama and his advisors. Incredible!
Al Qaeda and "irreconcilable" Taliban are viewed as the only Islamist branches not fit to engage (appease and align with), in contrast with the Muslim Brotherhood--which spawned Al Qaeda--and supposed "moderate" wings of Hamas and Hezbollah and Iran's monstrous mullahocracy. The killing of Osama Bin Laden--Obama's only achievement as President--has ironically given him political cover to intensify his pro-Islamist policies, including relentless pressure on Israel to withdraw to indefensible borders.
