HS2 is and always was just one part of the EU's Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) Policy. In other words the EU requires national Governments to allow the EU, ‘Sovereignty’ (or 'authority') to decide what we must have on our very own United Kingdom land, sea and air. Here from the EU's up to date Website is part of the remainder. And YES, I did object to all re the EU's own Consultation program as well as the UK's a few years ago now.
