ENJOY BIRMINGHAM’S U.K.I.P. ANNUAL CONFERENCE.
Chaps, time is short, we need to gird up our loins, and make some executive decisions about the conference on the 21st and 22nd. Sept.
Indications are, that ticket sales are running behind expectations, so we need to prioritise the decision making process without delay.
We are all busy, even us retirees, and its easy to put these things into the : must do something about that tray, and then leave it too late.
We need to show LIB LAB CON, that we don’t just talk, we get out there and do something.
Our conferences are good fun, and the location in a now vibrant Birmingham city centre, is well worth experiencing.
Birmingham’s superb Town Hall is a : grade 1 listed Victorian replica Greek Temple, and hosted the first performances of Mendelssohns - Elijah, and Elgar’s - Dream of Gerontius , also a riot in 1901 when David Lloyd George was the speaker.
It is just a stones throw from the city’s superb Museum and Art Gallery, which amongst other things, houses the world’s finest collection of Pre Raphaelite art, and a very good Victorian Tea Room.
The George Archer designed : St Phillips Cathedral, is a few minutes away, with its Edward Burne Jones stained glass windows, and a little farther on, is the Pugin designed St Chad’s Roman Catholic Cathedral, with its celebrated interior.
If art and culture is not your thing, the shopping starts at the Town Hall door, and has few equals outside London.
Try New Street, High Street and Corporation Street for the big high street names, and Broad Street for wall to wall club land on Friday night, rowdy, lively, and not teetotal.
Villa Park ( Premiership ) and St Andrews are a taxi ride away .
Travelling in by train to New Street, leaves only a pleasant ten minute walk to the venue. (Carry a Pepper Spray, though! - Stan)
Actually meeting people who have just been an email contact before, works wonders for interaction between individuals and branches.
Nigel’s talks alone, are worth the price of admission , so don’t delay book it to-day – or tomorrow at the latest.
