Subject:

Rimsha Masih kept incarcerated despite arrest of Imam who laid original allegations -

Rimsha granted bail on payment of 2 x 500,000 rupee sureties! BPCA organise Birmingham protest to

keep pressure on Pakistani Authorities and Fund for Rimsha!

Dear all,

By now many of you will have heard the good news that Rimsha Masih has been granted bail on payment of 2 x 500,000 rupee sureties.  Although this is a small step towards justice, she will still have to undergo a full trial unless granted asylum in a western nation.  Here safety is paramount and security at today's court hearing was significant,  however the killing of Governor Taseer illustrates that extra-judicial killings are hard to prevent.  We have asked the Foreign Office on their position with respect to granting asylum to Rimsha Masih and await a response.  MP Andrew Stephenson of Pendle has said it is highly likely that the UK would grant Asylum:

Details of how to contribute towards  Rimsha's  bail surety and protected shelter are contained in the link above!

Even as I write to you Christians in Essa Nagri, Karachi and Walton, Lahore are under siege for refusing to pay Jizya Tax or converting to Islam; the 9 nurses poisoned through tea in Karachi have received no justice, Asia Bibi remains incarcerated despite her innocence and I remind you that Rimsha is not exonerated and will stand full trial!  If you can make it do please attend our protest in Birmingham this Saturday from 12:00 - 15:00, we must highlight the plight of minorities living in Pakistan .

The situation in Pakistan has sunk to a Nadir!

It is essential that we continue our pressure for Justice.  The cost of our recent protests at London, Glasgow and Manchester has been £800 so far.  Donations have been close to £250 and we are still to hold one at Birmingham.  The protest have been televised on BBC World News and Scottish TV and have resulted in 11 interviews on Local BBC Radio stations from a studio in Manchester.  We conduct frequent interviews with Premier Christian Radio, BBC Asia Network and Sunrise Radio and have worked very hard in making sure that UK media have highlighted this case significantly.  If you can make a donation towards the costs of our protest please use the PayPal link at the top right hand of our Blog site.  Alternatively our bank details are available from our website www.britishpaksitanichristians.co.uk for standing orders and BACS transfers - you can also post cheques to our address listed on our blog and web address.

Thank you to all of you who donated funds previously it has helped significantly in raising the profile of the nature of oppression in Pakistan.  We will be collecting for the family of Rimsha Masih for both their legal support and upkeep of the family in hiding if you wish specifically to contribute towards this please mark your donations with ref:  Rimsha Masih Aid.

Kind regards
