Middle East counterterrorism experts point to hallmarks of Middle East terrorism in the initial investigation of the twin bombings that struck the Boston Marathon Monday, April 15, killing three people, including an 8-year old boy and injuring 140 – seventeen critically. The ball-bearings planted in the bombs for maximizing casualties are a familiar “professional” feature of Middle East terrorism. The Boston event would have required a team of 4-5 bombers on the ground backed by at least 10 accomplices and spotters. The FBI is seeking two men.

The FBI is investigating the two explosions at the elite Boston Marathon Monday, April 15, as a “potential” act of terror. The casualty toll rose to three dead and 140 runners and spectators injured – 11 of them in critical condition after many lost limbs. President Obama, said: “We don’t know what happened, but we will find out and the perpetrators will feel the full weight of justice.”  Heightened terrorism alert remains in Boston, Washington and New York. Boston-New York air links were suspended.

Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon wants America as partner if at all possible for attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities. But if Washington declines and Iran is on the verge of acquiring an operational nuclear arsenal – most probably this year - Israel must go it alone. He plans to do away with the classical divisions, brigades and professional corps like artillery and tanks which characterize a conventional army, and replace them with small, self-contained, armies capable of operating independently under their own air and artillery cover.
