Has North Korea Already Won?
Frida Ghitis: "Iran must be paying close attention to the dance macabre."
North Korea has already won, says an expert observer.

Pyongyang is having its way without firing a shot, as if to prove Sun Tzu's dictum, "Supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting."
The Time to Buy Gold Could be Approaching
Gold has officially entered a bear market, which means "a great buying opportunity" could be in store for 2014. An expert--James Gruber of Asia Confidential--makes the case, explaining why gold has at least temporarily lost its luster, why the shares of some well managed gold miners could be undervalued, and why, in light of the history of commodities trading, gold's recent price decline might not even mean that the bull market in the yellow metal has actually ended in the first place.

Britain Debates 'The Spirit of '45'
As austerity ravages Britain and the rest of Europe, a stirring documentary film about a forgotten postwar period is released. Click here to read a rave review; here, for a negative one; below, to screen the trailer.
POSTSCRIPT: Click here, too, for an intelligent (albeit one-sided) panel discussion of the film by two members of the British Left. What makes the TV program weirdly fascinating--and disturbing--is that it is a production of the propaganda network of the world's foremost clerical fascist regime, Iran's monstrous mullahocracy. Hence, the interviewer's (reactionary and oppressive) headscarf. Like her guests, she is both pleasant and articulate and seemingly sympathetic to the social democratic point of view. How she and they can associate themselves with an arm of a regime that murders and tortures and enslaves its people in the name of religion … that denies the Holocaust while promoting Nazi-like views and plotting a new … nuclear … holocaust … is truly mind boggling. Not since loyal, Moscow-controlled Communist Party members and their fellow travelers dutifully followed Stalin in the wake of his perfidious pact with Hitler has the European Left behaved so badly.
Alaska Base is Last Line of Defense Against N. Korea, Iran Missiles
An isolated military base in Alaska is America's last line of defense against missiles fired from North Korea or Iran. The base is getting more interceptor missiles; but the system is untested.

Not mentioned: evidence that the rogue states (the Obama administration insists on using the less offensive but also less accurate "outlier states" term in the hope of coaxing them into meaningful negotiations) are working on a Fractional Orbital Bombardment System (FOBS) missile, against which there is no known defense. A technology developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War, FOBS would make possible an attack on North America from over the South Pole.
DIA Criticized for N. Korea Assessment
U.S. intelligence agencies are disagreeing rather openly on the seriousness of the North Korean nuclear threat.

What's not mentioned: the rogue state's ability (a) to launch a ballistic missile from a freighter flying a flag of convenience, and (b) to use a cargo ship as a delivery system for a containerized nuclear weapon.

N. Korea Threatens to Nuke Japan First if War Breaks Out
Imitating its Islamist Partner's Repeated Threats to "Burn Tel Aviv," Pyongyang Threatens Tokyo with a Nuclear Holocaust
A case of weakness, real or perceived, inviting aggression?
Apparently, yes. The criminal states seem to have no fear of U.S. military might.
North Korea is threatening to strike Japan--with nuclear weapons.

The threat is similar to that which Pyongyang's proliferation partner, Iran, has made--namely, to "burn Tel Aviv" if Iran comes under attack over its nuclear program, even if the United States attacks Iran alone, without Israel's involvement.
The rogue states are effectively seeking to hold whole countries hostage, threatening civilian populations with annihilation.

Ex-IMF Official: Austerity 'Untenable'
The Taboo Question on North Korea
Set forth below is the question no liberal reporter dares to ask any senior U.S. official.
Is North Korea capable of using a launch pad concealed in a shipping container to fire a ballistic missile into a U.S. coastal city?
Confirmed: N. Korea Has Nuclear Missile Capability
The Pentagon believes North Korea can probably equip a missile with a nuclear warhead.

If North Korea has mastered miniaturization of nuclear weapons, one must assume it has shared the technology and knowhow with its partner in nuclear and missile crimes, Iran.
But nuclear-tipped Musudan/Shahab missiles constitute only the tip of the totalitarian iceberg forming and heading towards the civilized world. The rogue regimes must be stopped; end them before they end us.
