Irish 'neutrality' eh? Government weighs up transferring to new EU battle group.
Irish 'neutrality' eh?
The Irish make great play of the Constitutionally- enforced Irish
neutrality,
How any of this can be reconciled with that beats me! Are they
joining the German group because they know that they'll never be
asked to fight that way?

Government weighs up transferring to new EU battle group.
THE GOVERNMENT is considering entering into a new military formation
at EU level with the German, Czech, Croatian and Austrian armies.
This is part of the European Union's new battlegroup system.
Minister for Defence, Willie O'Dea, and representatives of the
Defence Forces have already held talks with the other nations about
the possibility of Ireland switching from its grouping with Nordic
nations to the German-led battlegroup. Further talks are scheduled
for September.
In April, Mr O'Dea met his Austrian counterpart, Norbert Darabos, in
Vienna and discussed Ireland's possible participation in the German-
led battlegroup.
Mr O'Dea told Mr Darabos that it was too early for Ireland to commit
to the German-led battlegroup or to commit to continuing with the
Nordic battle-group, of which Ireland is already a member.
Those talks followed a meeting in March at the Austrian National
Defence Academy, at which Government and Defence Forces
representatives met representatives from German, Austria, Czech and
Croatian militaries to discuss the mooted battlegroup.
A spokeswoman for Mr O'Dea said Ireland's participation with the
EU internet proposals raise civil liberty fears.

Civil liberty groups claim the new "telecoms package" due to go before the European Parliament in September will result in the loss of individual freedom on the internet, and breach the fundamental principles of human rights in Europe.
The French and Swedish pressure groups say the new powers will allow national governments to force internet service providers (ISPs) to hand over private information about their customers to the police. They claim three of the 800 amendments to the legislation will take away immunity enjoyed by the ISPs in regard to the material passing through their networks. At worst, the sorts of measures flowing from the legislation in the telecoms package could include a "three strikes and you're out" sanction to stop users illegally downloading songs or films from the internet.
Martyn Warwick, editor of Telecom TV, a specialist online television channel, said: "[It's] like suing the Post Office for not knowing what's in all the letters and parcels it delivers.
"Libertarians in Europe have picked up on this huge threat to privacy but so far in the UK no one seems to be aware of the dangers to personal liberty."
Telecom TV is running a campaign with the aim of putting pressure on MEPs to amend the measures.

SHOCKER: Black's wanting to leave South Africa shoots up 20% - 33% of S.Africans of all races want to flee.

[I don't think as many people have wanted to flee from South Africa as now. In the history of this country, I don't think there has been anything like this. Look at the shocking numbers. The number of whites wanting to leave has doubled in the last 7 years. The number of blacks wanting to leave has MORE THAN DOUBLED in 7 years. The most shocking increase is among the coloured people. They have gone from 12% to 42%. The comments I have heard personally from coloured people I work with definitely confirm this. Coloured people are getting their kids the hell out of this country.
First the whites flee... and now, everyone else is following suit.
Perhaps, finally, everyone is seeing what a complete shambles this country is turning out to be. Jan]

More fed-up black South Africans want to emigrate to escape the crime and economic pressure on jobs in South Africa.
The number seriously considering emigration has shot up by 20 percent since 2000, a researcher revealed on Thursday.
"We are now seeing a tipping point for an exodus, but this time across the board in terms of race," said Future Fact researcher Debbie Milne at a conference in Johannesburg.
"It is motivated more by the sense of cynicism than real violent political turmoil."

As UFO researchers and realists are aware, over the past week the most startling of disclosures occurred when Apollo 14 astronaut and sixth man to walk on the surface of the Moon, Dr. Edgar Mitchell, confirmed the UFO phenomenon is a reality and that extraterrestrials have indeed been visiting Earth and interacting with our governments.
Dr. Mitchell is a well respected scientist of the highest calibre and one of the bravest men in human history. To have the wherewithal to travel to another planet, or moon, our Moon in this respect took more than just guts. Only few men, all Americans have achieved this feat with equipment that by today's standards was hazardous to say the least. Therefore if one were to question Dr. Mitchell's character one would best in my book be ready to step outside to the alleyway. I'd be the first one waiting for you.

The National Australia Bank's decision to write off 90 per cent of its US conduit loans will have dramatic repercussions around the world. Wall Street will be deeply shocked when they understand the repercussions of what NAB has done. It is clear global banks have nowhere near provided for their exposures to US housing loans which in the words of John Stewart are experiencing a "meltdown".
We are now way beyond sub-prime. NAB says that it is suffering a 55 per cent loss on American housing loans an event that has never happened in the history of a developed country in recent memory. This is an unprecedented event and means that the cost of bailing out the US financial system is now far beyond the highest estimates. A US recession is now locked in, but more alarmingly, 55 per cent loan losses point to the possibility of a depression.

Banks Must Come Clean About Their Losses
An article in a regional Australian newspaper
http://www.businessspectator.com.au/bs.nsf/Article/NAB-will-shock-Wall-S...
this week provides information that the big banks around the world have yet to come clean about their full exposure to the US housing market. For the National Australia Bank, like many banks around the world, the Triple A status of US mortgage funds and the back-up of insurance seemed like a safe bet for getting some higher returns in total safety and security. We all now know different, of course but the small print of these deals has still yet to be fully taken on board and dealt with by many banks.
The NAB
http://www.nabgroup.com/0,,34695,00.html
is the first bank in the world to make a realistic and fully open assessment of its losses to the US sub-prime market. It is writing down no less than 90% of the money it placed into American housing in its accounts. As the article says, this will shock Wall Street and will reverberate around the world.
Most other banks have taken writedowns on their investments into sub-prime but have valued them based on a possible return to higher values in the property market as it recovers. This might be a sensible approach but the recovery back to the higher levels of 2006/7 is clearly years away - maybe as much as ten years by some estimates.

Those "climate crimes"
Following our post yesterday on "Climate Nazis", reproduced on Watts up with that, a number of commentators across both sites have suggested we contact the Advertising Standards Authority.
We contacted the ASA this morning and, as one might expect, making a complaint is not so simple. The basis of our complaint lies not so much in the advertisement (illustrated - click to enlarge) as in the campaign itself, which is essentially website based.
The remit of the ASA, however, is limited to advertisements in the media and it cannot directly concern itself with the content of websites. Should we wish to complain about the npower website, we were advised to contact Trading Standards which is unlikely to yield dividends.
However, there is possibly a way forward. The advertisement itself does not refer to "climate crimes" or in any way state explicitly that the purpose of the campaign is to recruit children to spy on friends, family and relatives, to accuse them of "climate crimes" and to keep records of their "infractions".
In that sense, the advertisement is possibly misleading, to which effect we have written a draft letter, published below, which might allow a formal complaint to proceed.
Dear Sirs,
With a view to making a formal complaint about a newspaper advertisement, I wish to seek your advice on its framing in order that it comes within your remit.

Why is the head of 'Liberty' a governor of the Ditchley Foundation? Shami Chakrabati
By David Icke
The Ditchley Foundation is a forum for the establishment elite and connects into the Bilderberg Group network. Why is Shami Chakrabarti, who represents the Liberty organisation apparently opposing the Big Brother State, one of its governors?
Why is she a member of the British-American Project, which was created with support from the Royal Institute of International Affairs that connects into the same web as the Bilderberg Group, Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission and the Ditchley Foundation?
The British-American Project, known as 'junior Bilderberg', has among its patrons one Lord Carrington, a close associate of mega-manipulator Henry Kissinger of the Bilderberg Group, Council on Foreign Relations, and Trilateral Commission. Carrington was a long-time chairman of the Bilderberg Group, Secretary-General of NATO and is, like Chakrabarti, a governor of the Ditchley Foundation.
The British-American Project is sponsored by a list of corporations, including Monsanto, famous, or infamous, for GM food, aspartame and Agent Orange in Vietnam.
Among the American members of the 'Advisory Board' of the British-American Project is Paul Wolfowitz, one of the main architects of the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq and the 'war on terror' that has been used to justify the Big Brother State world-wide.
