Ron Paul Wonders if Obama is Brainwashed

' "I do not know whether they have brainwashed themselves or what?" said Paul to Bloomberg when asked to comment on the presidential decision to help the economy weather the crippling recession with a USD-787-billion stimulus plan.

"For a government that is totally broke, I can hardly see that these are reasonable requests to spend trillions and trillions of dollars," added the Republican representative from Texas.'

Clinton Winds up Anti-Iran Propaganda

'U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton swiped hard at Iran on Wednesday, accusing its hardline leaders of fomenting divisions in the Arab world, promoting terrorism, posing threats to Israel and Europe, and seeking to "intimidate as far as they think their voice can reach".'

The Obama-Medvedev Turbo Shuffle

'Russian President Dmitry Medvedev didn't even have to be a good chess player to figure out he was not exactly being presented by Obama with a famous "offer he can't refuse". In a secret Obama letter, hand-delivered to Medvedev three weeks ago, as the New York Times revealed and the administration confirmed, the US "non-proposal proposal" essentially broke down to this: if you help us get rid of non-existent Iranian nuclear weapons, we'll get rid of our missile shield which we don't know if it's any good anyway.'

War Comes Home to Britain

'Freedom is being lost in Britain. The land of Magna Carta is now the land of secret gagging orders, secret trials and imprisonment. The government will soon know about every phone call, every email, every text message. Police can wilfully shoot to death an innocent man, lie and expect to get away with it.

Whole communities now fear the state. The foreign secretary routinely covers up allegations of torture; the justice secretary routinely prevents the release of critical cabinet minutes taken when Iraq was illegally invaded. The litany is cursory; there is much more.'

Schools Put 'Big Brother' CCTV Cameras in Classrooms to 'Monitor Teachers' Performance

'Schools are installing CCTV cameras and microphones in classrooms to spy on teachers. The surveillance technology is being used to check that pupils are being taught well and to expose poor teachers. But the approach has provoked fury among teaching unions, who say the tactics smack of Big Brother.'

'Say Please' at U. S. Border Nets Pepper Spray

'A Canadian who demanded courtesy from a U.S. border security guard says he was pepper sprayed and held in custody for three hours for asking the disrespectful officer to "say please" when ordering him to turn his car off during a search.

"I refused to turn off the car until he said please. He didn't. And he has the gun, I guess, so he sprayed me," said Desiderio Fortunato, a Coquitlam, B.C., resident who frequently crosses the border to visit his second home in the state of Washington. "Is that illegal in the United States, asking an officer to be polite?" '

Military May Patrol Bar Zone In Canadian City

'Authorities in Barrie, Ontario are considering a proposal to allow troops to patrol bar areas on weekends in a supposed attempt to prevent rowdiness, another example of the militarization of law enforcement and the public being conditioned to accept martial law.

"City police and Camp Borden officers are discussing using joint street patrols to help keep the peace in Barrie's busy entertainment district on peak weekends," reports the Toronto Star, as part of a move to "cement the base's partnership with Barrie police" (police and military merging into one enforcement unit).'

On The Road To Socialism? We've Arrived!

'In his campaign and inaugural address, Barack Obama cast himself as a moderate man seeking common ground with conservatives. Yet his budget calls for the radical restructuring of the U.S. economy, a sweeping redistribution of power and wealth to government and Democratic constituencies. It is a declaration of war on the right.'
