Editor's Note

Now that the excitement of Budget week has passed, accountants are left picking over the detail and wondering whether there is any urgent advice that clients will need. This year it is likely to be the better off who need some thought. The shock loss of the beneficialFurnished Holiday Letting treatmentfrom 2010 will prompt some to think carefully - particularly as the Sunday Times online contained a key inaccuracy yesterday.

Looking forward (if that is the appropriate term) to next year, those who act for high earners will need to start thinking about appropriate advice to clients - and will surely need to 'mug up' on anti avoidance rules on pensions in force from Budget Day.

Simon Sweetman has two reports for us this week - one of which looks at the top rate increase for the wealthy and examines likely behavioural change.

So it's heads down for the Finance Bill - but back to P35 and P11D's for others.

Best wishes,
