1. Where is America in Bible Prophecy?

Newsweek Magazine Reports On "The End of Christian America"
It was a small detail, a point of comparison buried in the fifth paragraph on the 17th page of a 24-page summary of the 2009 American Religious Identification Survey. But as R. Albert Mohler Jr.—president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, one of the largest on earth—read over the document after its release in March, he was struck by a single sentence. For a believer like Mohler—a starched, unflinchingly conservative Christian, steeped in the theology of his particular province of the faith, devoted to producing ministers who will preach the inerrancy of the Bible and the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the only means to eternal life—the central news of the survey was troubling enough: the number of Americans who claim no religious affiliation has nearly doubled since 1990, rising from 8 to 15 percent. Then came the point he could not get out of his mind: while the unaffiliated have historically been concentrated in the Pacific Northwest, the report said, "this pattern has now changed, and the Northeast emerged in 2008 as the new stronghold of the religiously unidentified." As Mohler saw it, the historic foundation of America's religious culture was cracking.

Congress resurrecting 'hate crimes' plan?
Christian organizations are warning constituents of a potential stealth attack on their faith in Congress with the launch of another "hate crimes" law, similar to a previous measure adopted with only minutes' notice. The earlier plan died when President George W. Bush threatened a veto, describing the idea as unneeded and probably unconstitutional. But now Barack Obama's White House website affirms his dedication to strengthening "federal hate crimes legislation" and expanding "hate crimes protection."............................ read more

2. Israel - God's Timepiece

Jews around world to greet sun with once-in-28-year prayer
Hundreds of thousands of Jews around the world will awake before dawn on Wednesday, climb to high vantage points and wait for the sun as they recite a prayer said only once every 28 years. For many of the participants, this will be their first time reciting the "Birkat Hachama" prayer, which according to Jewish tradition, marks the sun's return to its starting point at the moment the universe was created, after completing a 28-year cycle known as the "machzor gadol," or "large cycle." This year, however, the blessing has added significance, as it falls on Passover Eve, a sign some observant Jews interpret as a potential harbinger of a redemptive event of cosmic proportions. . ....

Do police need a warrant to track you via GPS?
What if all new cars came equipped with GPS tracking devices on the undercarriage, and everyone could spy on everyone else? Or what if you could willy-nilly put a device on your neighbor's car to see where he went? The expectation of privacy afforded under the federal and state constitutions would prohibit such acts, right? But what if police use GPS technology in an investigation, and they slap a device on the back of a suspect's car without a warrant?. ................. read more

8. Christian Worldview/Issues

Money woes slam top Christian broadcaster, threatens religious websites, radio stations across country
Salem Communications, a Christian publishing and radio giant that owns nearly 100 radio stations nationwide and calls itself the No. 1 Internet provider of Christian content, has been branded a "bottom rung" company by Moody's Investors Service for struggling under the weight of $320 million in debt. "People tend to reach out more to God and to Christian media during these times," commented Tom Scott, president of fellow Christian radio provider Sky Angel, to the Pacific Coast Business Times. "But economically, they just don't have their pocket book behind it. Not because they don't want to, but because it's just not feasible." ....................... read more

The long term impact of same-sex marriage for the church
Some say the sky hasn't fallen in the nearly five years since "gay marriage" was legalized in Massachusetts, but Kris Mineau, a citizen and conservative activist in that state, begs to differ. Sure, he says, things may look the same on the surface, but if you dig a little deeper, you'll see dramatic cultural changes. Teachers are teaching children about homosexual families over the objections of parents. A major adoption agency has chosen to shut down rather than be forced to place children with homosexual couples. "The sky is falling in Massachusetts in two key areas: parental rights and religious liberty," Mineau, president of the Massachusetts Family Institute, told Baptist Press.. ................. read more

9. Other Events To Watch

The G20 moves the world a step closer to a global currency
A single clause in Point 19 of the communiqué issued by the G20 leaders amounts to revolution in the global financial order. "We have agreed to support a general SDR allocation which will inject $250bn (£170bn) into the world economy and increase global liquidity," it said. SDRs are Special Drawing Rights, a synthetic paper currency issued by the International Monetary Fund that has lain dormant for half a century. In effect, the G20 leaders have activated the IMF's power to create money and begin global "quantitative easing". In doing so, they are putting a de facto world currency into play. It is outside the control of any sovereign body. Conspiracy theorists will love it. . ............................ read more

China's intentions: Stakeholder or like Japan's leading up to Pearl Harbor?
Almost four years ago the then Deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick posed a question in an insightful way before the annual meeting of the American business lobby for the Chinese: China is big, it is growing, and it will influence the world in the years ahead. For the United States and the world, the essential question is – how will China use its influence? ............................. read more
