You Tube: Bishara Says "No Palestinian Nation"

Reported: 21:09 PM - Jun/21/09     http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/166807

(IsraelNN.com) An internet surfer has posted a video archive from ten years ago in which former (Arab) Member of Knesset Azmi Bishara says there is no Palestinian people. The Channel 2 television interview by Yaron London was recorded two years  before Bishara was elected.

In the clip, Bishara says - mixing Hebrew and English -, "There is no 'Palestinian Nation'. It is a colonial invention. When were there any Palestinians?" He continued, "I think there is an Arab nation. I didn't, in spite of my fight against the occupation, turn into a Palestinian national. Palestine was, until the end of the 19th century, the southern part of greater Syria."

Bishara is in exile from Israel, following investigations into his activities during the Second Lebanon War in 2006, when he allegedly gave sensitive information to Hizbullah terrorists in Lebanon.

Full Translation: "Well, I dont think there is a Palestinian Nation at all. I think there is an Arab Nation, I always thought so and I didn't change my mind. I dont' think there is a Palestinian Nation, I think its a Colonial invention Palestinian Nation. When were there any Palestinians? Where did it come from? What I think there is an Arab Nation, I never turned to be a Palestinian Nationalist, despite of my decisive struggle against the Occupation. I think that until the end of the 19TH century, Palestine was the South of Greater Syria."
