Jay Hunt, who earns up to £280,000 a year as the Controller of BBC1, is company secretary of the firm, which is owned by her husband. The discovery of such close links between one of the BBC’s highest-ranking managers and a company that benefits from BBC contracts will bring the organisation under intense scrutiny again after the furore over executives’ expenses claims and excessive salaries for celebrity broadcasters. BrightsparkTV, the company founded by Ms Hunt and her husband Ian Blandford, made a pre-tax profit of more than £117,000 and nearly doubled its turnover last year.
