Clinton Ends Failed Foreign Trip with Silly PR Stunt

Having accomplished nothing of value or importance, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is winding up her European trip with a ridiculous "Town Hall" meeting. Click
 here for the story.

The Obama administration is all about style. Substance is irrelevant.

Sadly, Clinton is complicit in the further weakening of U.S. national security--and abandonment of U.S. allies.

Japan Ending Afghanistan Refueling Mission

Another blow to American influence and prestige.

AFP
reports:

Japan will in January end its Indian Ocean naval refueling mission that supports the US-led military campaign in Afghanistan, the defence minister said Tuesday.

"Japan will withdraw in an orderly way, based on the law" when legislation authorising the mission expires, said Defence Minister Toshimi Kitazawa, confirming what the government has repeatedly signaled.

Kitazawa also said Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama's government, which took power last month, ending a half century of nearly uninterrupted conservative rule, has so far taken no action for a fresh bill to relaunch the mission.

The minister added that Japan was considering other forms of support for Afghanistan, saying: "We want to firmly discuss what international contribution we can offer if we have to do so."

Kitazawa made the remarks a day after Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada also said in Pakistan that it would be "difficult in reality" for the government to submit to parliament a bill to continue the mission.

Iran's Ally and Turkey Plan Joint Military Exercises

Islamist Iran's secular ally, Syria, announced on Tuesday that it plans to hold military exercises with Turkey, shortly after Turkey cancelled maneuvers with Israel.

"We held our first joint land military exercise [with Turkey] last spring," Syrian Defense Minister Ali Habib told reporters. "And today we have agreed to do a more comprehensive [exercise], a bigger one."

The Syrian announcement is extremely significant. It shows that Israel is becoming increasingly isolated and encircled, thanks, in part, to U.S. President Barack Obama's appeasement policy, which has only accelerated the anti-Israel trend to an alarming extent. His outreach to the so-called Muslim world--a tacit acceptance of Islamist ideology--has emboldened Israel's enemies and encouraged them to believe that the Jewish State's days are numbered.

POSTSCRIPT: Turkey's military is the guardian of the country's secular system. Will it move against the country's Islamist-rooted and -leaning government? Is there still time to stop the Islamizing trend (which also threatens Syria)? Time will tell.
