NIS 40 Million Price Tag on Relief to Haiti

(IsraelNN.com) The cost of sending Israel's military field hospital to earthquake-ravaged Haiti and running it for a week came to about 40 million shekels ($10.7 million), according to information received by the Haaretz business paper The Marker.

About a quarter of that amount went to flying the medical equipment to Haiti, with a similar amount spent on establishing a satellite communications center and using it every day. Another eight million shekels ($2.15 million) was spent on the Foreign Ministry delegation to the island. Each additional day costs 1.5 million shekels ($402,522), not including the communications.
 
 

 
Hundreds Treated at Israeli Field Hospital in Haiti

(IsraelNN.com) The Israel Defense Forces reported Thursday that 455 survivors of last week's earthquake in Haiti have been treated at the IDF field hospital. The hospital's staff has performed 152 operations and 17 other procedures have been performed by Columbian doctors who joined the staff. Thirteen people died of their injuries.

Seven births have been performed at the hospital, including one by caesarean section. About 40 people are recuperating there.
