PA to Demand Prisoner of War Status for Terrorists

(IsraelNN.com) The Palestinian Authority plans to file suit against the government of Israel at the International Criminal Court in the Hague, demanding that Israel treat terrorists in its prisons like "prisoners of war," instead of as war criminals. The change in status would give the terrorists further rights under the third Geneva convention, including automatic freedom in the case of prisoner exchanges, and exemption from trials for war crimes.

The PA's minister for prisoner affairs, Issa Kara, has met with UN officials to discuss the best way to present the lawsuit.
